I have had dogs all my life that up until recently have all been rescues. We are thinking of getting a puppy soon, so are looking at all the online UK forums etc.
There seem to be some shocking scams out there for the unwary.
The picture above is of my old rottie who was at least 14 years old when she passed just under a year ago.

Hi @Jen - I'm glad you are both doing lots of research.

what do you mean by shocking scams? As in breeders doing the scams?

No... the amount of scams on the internet trying to sell dogs they don't have.

Yes Violet, she was lovely. B'ham dogs home said they thought she was about 5 when we had her, but I recon'd she was closer to 3. We had her almost 14 years. We recon she was puppy farm mom, who was put out once they got a few litters in. She hated chains and feet and children, but we got her out of all that by the time we had her for a year.
She also used to food guard... she disliked men. But she was a fantastic dog.

wow 14 years! its understandable in them conditions ...

Yes, it's terrible what some poor dogs go through. However, by the time we'd had her a year, she was fine with everything. Would even let men stroke her provided that she was allowed to make the first move towards them. I would never let children come up to her unless I was down at her face level though, and with my hand on her throat so I could feel if she started to 'rumble', so I could ask them to back off. She really was a diamond of a dog once we sorted these few little things out and knew how to approach any situation with her.

awe... i rescued olive (mini schnauzer) from Spain little did I know she would come pregnant and now I have a litter on my hands 4 little ones...

oh bless her.... that's a long way to go for a rescue... well done you. She looks beautiful. Do you know what bred with her
I've already come across several scams before I found this site, its shocking really

I know its a long way but as soon as I saw her I loved her... another schnauzer we think because when she was rescued their was a group of schnauzers... you will find scams just keep a wide eye!

Will do and thanks a lot. Hope they all turn out healthy for you, best of luck.

Very sorry for you loss, but your dog lived a nice, long life! What breed are you thinking about for your next dog? :)
