3 month ago, my dog had a severe diarrhea with blood and had a big non cancerous tumor in his colon that had been removed with surgery, but he did not recovered and still had blood in his stoll so the vet told me that is an acute condition and might be permanent and described him cortison and flagyl for a period of time, nowadays he is better but sometimes his stool is loose and have some blood in it , i should be very careful as any change in his food (dry food gastro)or if he got a little cold or stressed he just restart his diarrhea with bloody/stool spots all over the place, i feel like i am in a vicious circle and don’t know what yo do, any recommendation that might help him to improve his health ,gut bacteria, reduce diarrhea, and help me to proceed my life because i am always cleaning behind him his diarrhea.. it is hard , Thanks

Hi @Samer, aw your poor dog :-(

I’m afraid I haven’t experienced this before but I’m sure there will be some great suggestions and advice for you here

Boiled rice and scrambled egg is a good one for firming up loose stools.

And live yoghurt to rebalance his gut flora.

I use pro kolin on my dogs when they have upset stomachs. Marley suffers colitis and sometimes gets blood in his stools so i give the pro kolin and sometimes add in pure pumpkin which helps firm his stools up.

When my cav was very ill with gastroenteritis the vet recommended Hill's Prescription food. I still keep a supply for emergencies.

Hi, in my experience, boiled white rice mixed in with his normal food is good for stopping diarrhea, I would suggest no dairy products.
