Has anyone got a good book they can recommend?

I love reading but I haven't had one that I think ' Oh I must read that!' for ages!

I love anything Linwood Barclay does!

I have been buying the occasional 'offer of the month' book on Amazon for my Kindle to try to get some new authors on my reading list. For a psychological thriller (think Girl on the Train) I found Behind Closed Doors by B A Paris to be a good page-turner, and I also loved The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd. For by the pool holiday lightweight chick-lit frothy stuff you might like the doggy themed books by Lucy Dillon including Lost Dogs and Lonely Hearts, and Walking Back to Happiness (she doesn't disguise the content in the title!)

Authors I like: Tracy Chevalier, Sarah Waters, Peter May (The Lewis Trilogy), Ann Cleeves (Shetland series), Robert Harris, Ken Follett, Katherine Ryan Hyde.

I enjoyed The Essex Serpent by Sarah Perry. The Silent Companions by Laura Purcell.

Thanks both! Will check them out and see which one takes my fancy :)

Girl on the Train(I loved it!) the couple next door (also a good one), Emma and I (This has a Labrador in and I think you will enjoy it!)

thanks @Violet Turner - I have read Girl on a Train and wasn't sure whether I liked it or not! have you seen the film?

Ah anything with a Labrador in is a winner ;)

My guilty read is a Scottish period romance - outlander

Lost Dogs and Lonely Hearts is a great book! Highly recommend that too.
But depends what you like to read? I am a big Jodi Picoult fan... which are sort of family drama books that usually involve a court case.
And really liked Room by Emma Donoghue (is also a film).
And books that are really good if you're into animals are the Talyton St. George series by Cathy Woodman, first in the series is Trust Me, I'm a Vet. :)

I’ve just started reading books by Lesley Pearce....a bit saucy in parts  but brings back memories :D easy reading at bedtime :)
