Stupid or clever? Dog training intelligence

He passed the blanket test. He will not fetch a ball. Will happily run after a ball and sit with it until I pick it up. Will quite happily retrieve any soft toy I throw for him.
Today I said we were going out so to get a drink of water and he did. Was it just coincidence? Probably but I like to think he is just getting more intelligent.

I tried the blanket test on Jimmy last night. He ran around a bit with it over him, then flicked it off, picked it up in his mouth and shook it for ages with all his might. It was hilarious to watch! :D We had to be careful though to make sure the flicking blanket didn't knock things over - there were a few close calls.

Noticed there were a few posts about training clever Collies and I live with a clever poodle. I also share my home with a rather stupid Harrier and had some very stupid Beagles.

Is your dog clever or not very? Have you tried the blanket test? Put a blanket over your dogs head and see how long it takes them to get it off.

Is it easier to have a clever or not clever dog?
Love the post. We own 4 collies and 1 JRT. One collie is a female welsh sheepdog, thick a a plank, needs specsavers, and is clumsy....however the most loving dog you could ever meet...but not clever. The one male BC (Bruce) is very smart, he picks stuff up straight away. Our other Male BC (Dillon) is clever but lazy and takes shortcuts, Our female BC Skye is smart...smart enough to do things that suit her lol................and the smartest of the lot is our little girl Mojo (JRT) clever, smart and crafty
