If the dog would prefer not to do it, then I don't like it. Though some dogs are much better at rolling with what life throws at them than mine is... I once put a t-shirt on Jasper and he was so grumpy about having it taken off him (he was touchy about his head at that time) that I cut it off
Of course, there's a big difference between 'overdressing', as in the photo above, & making them parade for ages and sticking a novelty hat and bandana on them for a quick photoshoot.

NO !
A coat when its very cold or if a dog is poorly ok otherwise let the dog be a dog. Benny once wore a bandana for a photo and I have a bandana for Murphys Friese pose but thats it.

With a Whippet she has coats. Warm ones, waterproof ones and waterproof warm ones. But thats simply because she needs them. If its not raining or cold she does not wear any. Of course when racing she wears a racing jacket.

Snap when Benny got older and his coat got a bit thin I bought him a coat because he was shivering in the rain but if he knew if I put the coat on him it was raining so he would run away and hide.

My view too. Dogs find it hard to read each other's body language when it is obstructed by paraphernalia so a simple coat for warmth, waterproofing or a close fitting garment like a surgical recovery vest is ok; but dressing them up in costumes are a big no for me.

No - he had a jumper which was bought when I saw him shivering in the garden as a young puppy. It was bitingly cold in North Wales in December this year. He also has a raincoat which he wears semi occasionally if it's really wet and we're going to be out for hours.
Both were bought for function rather than fashion.

Ours has a coat for rain/winter and a body suit we bought him following surgery so he wouldn't interfere with his wound. I did try a small Christmas hat his year, but it stayed on for about 10 seconds so that was that. I too don't really like to see dogs all dressed up.

I got my last dog, Danny, a coat for the winter when he got old and sore with his joints and he seemed very chuffed with it the first time he wore it and it had a function. I really don't like seeing dogs in 'clothes' and definitely not boots/shoes!! Jake can't really wear one comfortably as he has large fatty lumps under all that fluff..

Yes, Olive has 4 coats and 2 Christmas jumpers I don't really mind about dressing her or any dog up but the above picture is really OTT.

My boys have their coats for going out and warm fleece jumpers being whippets they feel the cold. But i definitely wouldn't dress them up like that! Being honest Oliver prefers being in the nip rather than wearing his coats

For function yes, but no one says that it can't be functional and stylish. Our frenchie Yianni only has 1 layer of short fur so we can visibly see him getting cold if there is a chill. Sometimes a coat can be too heavy so we use a tee or sweater depending on what is required to make him more comfortable. On bigger dogs that don't required additional layers then sure why not go with a bandana. In general if the dog is happy and the owner is happy why not
