Hello everyone,
my little Lancashire heeler has just had his spleen removed due to a cancerous growth. As he only had the operation today would he be prone to infections in his stitched up area if I took him for a little walk tomorrow?
Thanks

It sounds too soon to me. What does your vet say? As his spleen has been removed his immune system is going to be permanently weakened anyway

I was so overcome with emotion at seeing him again that it completely slipped my mind which is why I have asked for advice here

I'd ring and ask. It sounds quite a major operation and he'll need to rest and recover for a bit yet I'd have thought.

Again, the reason I am asking here is because it is Saturday evening and the vets are closed on Sunday but thank you for your advice

How is your little chap? Did you decide on taking him out?
