In our house it was AA said as in Apple loudly . For children and dogs. My son and daughter hated it growing up, said it went right through them but it stopped them in their tracks when they were about to do something silly or dangerous, same with all the dogs we have had, it was probably the tone that was used when saying it. Funnily enough my daughter uses it with my grandson and my son uses it with his dogs lol

Funny the stuff they carry with them into adulthood. My son's dog when he was a kid was Sam, when his son was born he called him Samuel. Could have been worse could have been Fido.

Yeah funny they claim to be so different and yet... I used to count 1...2...3 but I can count on one hand the times I got to 3. 3 meant action if Id said put something away and they didnt 3 meant they lost it.. Ive heard my son use it with his children ..it was only ever used after Id asked and after they had been warned..

i actually came out the opposite. force was used often in our house (prong collars, choke collars and alpha rolls) and verbal put downs of us kids could be just as harsh(LOTS of yelling). when i got bax i SWORE id be different from my dad so i used (mostly) positive stuff with him. funny what an upbringing will do to you.

II absolutely love my little fella we are both very very happy i give him puppy snuggles every night when we go to bed . My mum loved me and did her best in very different times as I'm sure you're did .

There was no different types of collars then only one most people's life was pretty grim but we still loved out dogs.

I REALLY like you Shalistsa I feel we have stuff in common i don't want you to ever think that i would EVER hurt any dog i love them all. I was born in a different time there was only one sort of collar for your dog.We always loved out Little dogs and even when in those times were smacked or even caned by teachers we have grown up to think this was right. I just defend my mother because she had six kids and no washing machine no vacuum cleaner and no fridge or c!eaner. I love her and my Buster .

Oh absolutly @Free spirit i get where your coming from. And i respect where you went with your dog. I had a similar experience with my dog and i got jumped by people who thought i wasnt positive enough to even AFTER everything id tried. So nothing but love and respect coming from me <3
