Last weekend was Jake's 14th birthday and I thought I would share a couple of pics. We didn't go mad with the celebrations but he did have some special lily's kitchen xmas biscuits which he really loved, I told him it was his birthday and he looked at me like 'what are you saying??' so I told him it was his 'biscuit day' and that he got!:D
This year has been tough and there has been times when I didn't think he would be with us for his birthday or Christmas...and times, if I am honest, that I hoped he wouldn't be, not because I want to lose him, but seeing him lose his mobility, hearing, sight, continence and mind slowly but surely has been killing me, I feel, at times, like I have been grieving for the dog he was these last few months:( but here he is...he may be a daft old bugger now that forgets to go to the loo and wanders in the night to do it(I therefore sleep with one ear open to let him out and yes he stands in the garden staring off into space for a while before he remembers why he's out there!) and he may sleep like a log in the day and not hear me anymore if I come in or out the house, he can't walk very far and if we go a bit too far he limps badly and seems to forget how his legs should work in sinc. but still very occasionally he will have a short kinda oldie version of the zoomies, not sure what triggers it but it is great to see... we adjust to his needs and love him, he is our Jake...:) The last pic is of Jake in his younger days, probably about 4 years old there!
