Mushers Wax

Since it's getting cold here in Germany I thought I'd give my opinion on Mushers Wax. I had been looking for a good wax for the Winter for her paws rather than using shoes. I know there are a tonne of reviews and products out there so maybe this will help someone else.

Mushers Wax is a Canadian company so should know what it's doing when it comes to paw protection and Winter! From what I've observed seems to be a great alternative. The wax soaks in fast and doesn't leave marks behind on the couch or floors. You only need to apply a thin layer which should cover the paw.

On the few occassions where we've forgot to put on and then noticed that her paws are qutie dry, after a double usage (morning and evening) her paws are back to normal.

Apparently it can also be used in the Summer to guard against hot pavements where if like me, the Summer can be a consisten +28 then it's also a benefit.

I bought the 60g tub which doesn't sound a lot, but for the size of my dog will last at least two years if not longer.

It's by no means the cheapest on the market but the quality speaks for itself and I'd invest in it again once ours runs out. I think I paid 20 Euros for mine so around £18.

Sounds a good idea. I used vaseline on Dudleys feet last winter. We also use vaseline on the hens feet could I use this wax on them? (serious question not a joke)

I looked around in Germany when I was last there and got a tube of paw care, it contains beeswax and is said to protect paws against frost but also against the salt and grit people use on pavements.. We do wash Murphys paws after his long walk and in winter we wash them even if hes just been on a short neigbourhood walk because of the salt dangers.

No idea! It's made from 100% natural waxes so I wouldn't see why not. Did the vaseline leave marks on the floor?

Yeah this one also protects against salt and grit. We wash her paws after a long walk and then see if we need to reapply.

Is this the same as Musher's Secret? I've used that in cold weather/snow and am also using it to try to soften a corn. I'm not sure Vaseline would be as effective as that is petroleum-based and might not be absorbed in the same way.

I'd be concerned about using it to protect paws from the heat in case it gave a false sense of security and encouraged people to walk their dog on hot pavements that could potentially burn - if it's too hot to walk without paw wax, there's no easy way of knowing if it's safe to walk with it. But people in hotter climates than the UK would have more experience in this!

I wash Dudleys feet after a walk but it was easier with the vaseline.
The chickens don't come in the house,!!!!!

I use a mix of beeswax and shea butter for Harri when I need a barrier for his paws.

I use organic natural pawtection for my boy's.
