Hi so after losing Bella in December me and my husband are ready for a new addition. We have found some lovely gsd X golden retriever puppies that we are interested in. They will be ready to come home on the 13th may, however we go on holiday then but the breeder has said they would keep her until the 26th. Just wondering what difference picking up an 8 week old Vs a 10 week old? If there is any.

Not a lot of difference - it's not uncommon. The main points are not to miss anything in the socialisation window, up to 16 weeks. I would ask if the breeder would be prepared to start taking him outdoors to toilet etc.

Oh, and another thought - if he comes to you with his first vaccination but not his second, make sure your vet uses the same one or be prepared to go back to the breeders vet - you don't want to have to restart them.
 
Your puppy could actually benefit from that extra time with Mum. She will teach manners that most 8 week olds lack! I know a couple of breeders who will keep puppies to 10 or 12 weeks as a 'best practise'. Good luck with yours.
 
My first greyhound came to us from the breeders at 12 weeks with all the social skills needed from his mother and siblings. Unfortunately we lost him at 18 months old. My dog Morgan came to us at 8weeks fully toileted .He started going outside with his mum and siblings then( we saw it when we visited at 5wks) but with very little social skills learned . Ten weeks is best to get your puppy later as they carry on learning to socialise.
