Bl**** ticks!

Why do they never attach in easy places? I found one today in the thickest part of T's moustache. Then I had to find it again after I'd fetched the tick tool. Then T started to object as he doesn't like being fussed with - and the tick was at the business end of his frustration (think teeth). And as I was holding his muzzle with one hand and the tick tool with the other hand, all he had to was step back and he was off. Go back to step 2 and repeat ...

This is why Seresto collars are a godsend for me - Jasper always used to get them on his boy bits and - twice - on his eyelids. I'd end up lying underneath him like a car mechanic, trying to remember keeping my mouth shut while OH distracted him with peanut butter.

I know some people have health concerns about Seresto collars, but after removing a few ticks from his underparts in each session, I was getting concerned about my own health!

I did thanks (after about 5 attempts). It was harder than normal because it was so engorged I struggled to get the tool under it. Then when I got a grip, it came out quite easily - I think it was already dead. He was just at the end of his normal tick treatment period (his stuff is supposed to repel and kill if necessary) but I have repeated it anyway.

Oh, I do sympathise. Tick removal is such a blinking fiasco.
It’s usually when everyone is settled down to watch a good film: the dog is chilled and I am stroking him when I feel a ‘bump’. It then takes ages to locate the ‘bump’ again, before delving through dog hair to confirm it definitely is a tick. It then takes even longer delving through the ‘dog cupboard’ to locate the tick remover. Armed with this, it’s back to trying to find where the blessed tick was. By which time, the dog is no longer chilled and is convinced the tick remover is edible and everyone is moaning because I am ruining the film. Once the tick is finally removed, I always go through the rigmarole of wrapping the thing up in layers of kitchen roll (like some Ancient Egyptian mummy) until I am convinced it can’t escape before burying it at the bottom of the wheelie bin.

We are still trialling the Brewers yeast tablets. Thankfully, have only had to remove one tick since he started them.

Where do tick removers disappear to? I've lost count of how many I've bought, but they seem to evaporate. There must be a big pile of them somewhere, possibly with all the missing tennis balls. And my black jeans. How does one lose a pair of jeans?

Unfortunately, I can imagine it is quite easy to lose a pair of jeans.
Recently had to start wearing glasses for reading. Have ‘misplaced’ 4 pairs so far.…am now just squinting and enlarging everything on the computer screen to 150%

Every time Edie has a tick I seem to find one on myself. I remove hers no trouble, but I found mine the next day on my thigh. The little sod climbed up my trousers and embeded itself. Thought I'd removed it until 10days later. Gosh my leg was red and swollen. I had antibiotics. Her next tick was on her neck, mine on the lower leg. I'm neurotic now when out walking and examine my legs constantly.

I'll be putting even more kitchen roll wrapping around the tick I find now

Omg, I have never had a tick on myself (everyone check back tomorrow for an update, you all know how these things work) but at least I'd know to stay still while I got it off!
