I am sick to death with our local Sainsbury's, only 3 miles from home (very convenient) hmm
We have a large store with about 12 (maybe more) manned checkouts, and quiet a large number of DIY checkouts.
Seldom are there many of the manned checkouts all open, this creates queues of people with trolleys full of produce waiting to pass through, and frequently a long wait in the queue too!
Sainsbury's have installed a lot of the DIY checkouts, I assume they are trying to push their customers into processing their own shopping through this DIY process. Well I suppose that's ok if you want to.
My really BIG issue about this is, that the checkout girls wages are included in the price of everything that we purchase in the store, so where's the deduction or my payment for me processing my own shopping through their DIY checkout's.
I went across town yesterday evening to our large tesco store (not as close as Sainsbury's) to get some toilet rolls, (24 Andrex for £8.00) I bought 2 packs! and a Litre of Baileys coffee flavour, Sainsbury's don't have the coffee flavour and it's only £12 at Tesco.
When I got to the checkouts there were loads of checkouts with staff either processing customers goods, or some even just waiting for the next person, there was also a choice of using the DIY checkouts, some of which were being used by customers.
There were NO WAITING queues to be seen anywhere and I got straight through very quickly.
WELL DONE TESCO. 10/10
