Dental food

The way I've been handling this is I'm slowly weaning him off his OLD food (the veggie stuff) onto his new food (the really good fish stuff) and I'm considering the "vet recommended food" as just treats. so he gets his breakfast and a handful of crunchy "treats". Probably not what my vet wants but i refuse to feed him JUST that Hill's stuff.
 
Well I wouldnt eat anything that had an ingredient list that needed a chemist to de-chiper it. I know of lot of those things are just the long names for vitamins and such but some are downright yukky..

I think I will stick to good old fashioned natural stuff..
 
IKR?!?!??! its like... corn flakes with chicken shit on it..... sigh..... BAAAXXXTTTERRRRRRR
 
on the plus side he doesnt mind getting his teeth brushed. buying Logic was a huge win, (although its like 30$ a tube in the states) and hes been crunching on freeze dried chicken feet every week so i think once this tarter is gone ill have a pretty solid handle on keeping the plaque off
 
The only problem with Dentasticks is they have quite a bit of sugar in them.I use raw bones to keep my dogs teeth pearly white:)
 
I don't use dentastix either. As @niamh123 says, they contain sugar and I think the marketing and advertising is a lot more successful than their tooth cleaning ability.
 
As mentioned by @niamh123 raw bones are the best natural cleaners for teeth.

The freeze dried chicken feet are a good idea, have you thought of giving these raw? they are fantastic and also have further nutritional values too. :rolleyes:
