rocco one for the ladies

It's a really grey area ..I have collected dogs that have been signed over via rescue and if the owners refuse disclosure of previous vet records there was nothing that could be done ...
Good luck but I am surprised your vet hasn't tried the basic treatment for allergies

5.5 Although both veterinary surgeon and client have freedom of choice, in the interests of the welfare of the animals involved, a veterinary surgeon should not knowingly take over a colleague's case without informing the colleague in question and obtaining a clinical history.

5.6 When an animal is initially presented, a veterinary surgeon should ask whether the animal is already receiving veterinary attention or treatment and, if so, when it was last seen; then, contact the original veterinary surgeon for a case history. It should be made clear to the client that this is necessary in the interests of the patient. If the client refuses to provide information, the case should be declined.

13.1 Clinical and client records should include details of examination, treatment administered, procedures undertaken, medication prescribed and/or supplied, the results of any diagnostic or laboratory tests (including, for example, radiograph, ultrasound or electrocardiogram images or scans), provisional or confirmed diagnoses, and advice given to the client (whether over the telephone or in person). They should also include outline plans for future treatment or investigations, details of proposed follow-up care or advice, notes of telephone conversations, fee estimates or quotations, consents given or withheld, contact details and any recommendations or discussion about referral or re-direction.

Absolutely. First step, antihistamines and if it clears up, it's an allergy. You won't know what he is allergic to, but you could start with the usual things like cutting out grain, chicken etc. while you continue to try to get records. If it doesn't clear up, it's not an allergy so you look at the next most obvious things like skin fold dermatitis, demodex, fungal infections - again all quite straightforward. And just start the vaccinations again like you would for a rescue, as @JudyN already said. I understand your frustration but I don't see it as that big a deal, unless there is something we are not aware of.
 
when we took him to vets for first vet check they said possible allergy and then gave us hibiscrub to put on for 1 week all though we try and put it on with cotton wall he trys and eats the cotton wall and he wont let us near his pink area , some times he does scratch right side of face and yelps he has another appointment with vet tomorrow morning ,
 
I just hope his skin /allergies aren't heridatry...all of those pups he has sired :eek:
I have just looked at 4 rescues I home check for and 3 of those have french bull dogs ...reason for relinquish...skin conditions, breathing problems, eye ulcers the list goes on and people cannot afford the vets bills....Battersea's had an influx of frenchies all needing operations to open their nostrils and airways ....:mad::(:(
 
hi vet has said about neutering him but not yet , when we was looking for another dog we did look at the problems that they get so we are looking at insurance , in the mean time we have got him some nylabone as instruction from vet so we got him a chicken one all though he seems to enjoy it we are not sure if there is blood on the end or its suppose to go a pink / red colour after chewing so we have taken it way just in case i had a look inside his mouth but nothing found so far

hi when we saw him at his old home he was with a female french bulldog and she was very prominent on chest area so we are not sure if both dogs where mates , we was advised that don king was mated but did not know how much untill we found info on kennel club reg , we did collect him from his old home and paid £500 the old owner did ask us to keep her informed on how he was doing in which we are through whats app but since the 4 dec at 3am she has not been in contact with us she did advise that she was going away untill sat but did not say which sat , on the day of collecting his paper work she was not there due to visiting husband in hospital but we have now got all paper work and changed all details on him to us , when we took him down to our vets to be chip checked they advised us that the chip was local but the address did not match when we spoke to kennel club microchip central they advised us that the vets did not know what they was talking about , the old owner said she had him since he was 8 months . i are still looking into try and get some thing on the dog but why the old owner has not informed the vet of rehome is a mystery ..and there for wont get any info on the dog history as they said it comes under gdpr according to ico it does not and there fore old vets/owner is with holding his treatment health records for what reason is unsure at the moment
