Lily has been sick since she came back from her walk, didn’t eat anything while we were out but started eating grass on the verge outside , she’s been sick off and on since then, shaking, ears very hot and now has a runny bum :( booked into vets this evening so hoping it’s nothing too serious. She stands in the garden just staring and I have to go and bring her in as she won’t move, worries me so much :(

Fingers crossed it’s nothing serious.
I would try to collect some of her poop even if it’s just liquid, and bring to the vet, in case they can get some insights from testing it.

That’s a good idea Ari, she seems to be getting more withdrawn and not wanting to move, was only saying the other day that in her ten and a half years she’s only been to the vets for her injections and teeth, should have kept quiet :( but she’s been different in character since we lost her best friend Molly 7 months ago

Oh the poor girl - hopefully it's just a bug that will pass quickly. Do let us know how she goes xx

Oh no - could she have picked up anything on her walk? Please update us later. Big hugs x

Thank you xx she didn’t eat anything on our walk as she never left my side, she’s not keen on going out at the best of times and just plods along and would sooner stay in the warm, if we go out with another dog she has a bit more enthusiasm  hopefully it’s just a bug but it was so sudden, fine before our walk and had a bit of my toast which she ate happily ( which is rare for Lily) so goodness knows how it came on so quickly.

Sorry to hear this @Mayblossom :( it’s the worst seeing your dog not right - as you know from my troubles.

Make sure you mention to your vets about a bug because it’s spreading like wildfire (definitely round Somerset and I know @Whippylove has been affected by this)

X

Thanks Josie, I’ll mention it to him. Also have blood in her poo :( that may be all the straining or gastro infection .

Just come back from the vets and Lils had 3 injections, one for diarrhoea , another for sickness and an antibiotic. Vet was surprised that she wasn’t dehydrated and her temperature was normal. Checked all her vitals and everything ok, have to see how she is overnight and take her back in the morning if still not right . Mentioned about the virus and she didn’t think it was that so fingers crossed she’ll be ok in a couple of days. She’s very dopey now after all the injections, bless her

I hope she's bouncing around again tomorrow... or at least not redecorating your carpets...

:D:D I hope so too Judy , got through a fair bit of kitchen roll and floor wipes ;)
I know she’s poorly as she didn’t growl at the vet once :D

Poor lass. Hope you all have a good night.

Was thinking of sleeping downstairs with her Jo, she won’t settle for long and wants to keep going outside but just stands there when she goes out, still shaking but drinking lots of water. Vet gave us some chicken juice stuff but she won’t touch it....she doesn’t like chicken o_O have the emergency number but hoping we don’t need it. I feel really scared that she’s not going to get better, maybe because it’s so soon after Molly :(

I'm sure it's normal to be so worried after what happened to Molly but the vet has checked everything, hopefully she will wake up right as rain in the morning. I'd sleep with her too though, in case she needs reassurance.

it’s a worrying time, Mayblossom. I’d be like you, inclined to sleep downstairs, reassurance for you both. <3

Oh the poor girl - Den does that sometimes if he’s feeling poorly. He’ll just go and stand in the garden and he won’t come back in when I call him.
Hopefully she’ll be feeling better after her injections x

Sorry to hear lily isn't feeling so good poor girl, I hope she gets some sleep and feels better in the morning x

Poor girlie had a bit of an accident from her back end while she was asleep next to hubby on the sofa :( one of the injections was to stop that....thank goodness for leather sofas...not good for hubby’s trousers  managed to syringe some of the chicken stuff down her as she won’t eat, so lethargic. Hubs is sleeping downstairs with her ( he did offer and I did protest ;)) but don’t think I’ll sleep anyway. Hoping she’s a little better tomorrow.

Ah...so sorry to hear you girl is poorly. It is SO worrying when it happens as they change so much so quickly.
I hope you both have relatively good night, though I suspect sleep will be in short order. Fingers crossed that she will bounce back soon.

Thanks Finsky, hardly slept as kept worrying about Lily. Still very quiet and lethargic but had a few drinks of water and went out for a wee at 2am, hubby gone back to bed for a couple of hours as poor fella has to go to work. Back at the vets for 9.15 so we’ll see what she says.
