Best food???

Im looking for the best food for my dog- a small jack russell cross, around a year old (maybe? Take your best guess, she came from Romania) about 11kg. She has very wirery fur so maybe something that could help with keeping her coat and skin healthy? Ive read that higher protein is better? currently has just dry food so looking for a complete food kibble. Its an absolute minefield and theres so many out there... dont mind paying for a better food but dont want to break the bank so was thinking around £5 per kg (uk based),

Best to keep her on the same food as she has been on for a couple of weeks as the stress of moving and a food change can cause tummy problems. When you do change, do it gradually over at least a couple of weeks.

Higher protein isn't always best, some dogs find it too rich. Also, I believe dogs process carbs differently from humans.

Have a look at www.allaboutdogfood.co.uk It is an independent dog food comparison website which scores all types of foods (dry, raw, wet) out of 100. You can set filters for your dog's breed, weight, age etc. and for your daily budget; then you can add in any specific needs you have such as aiming for weight loss or avoiding specific ingredients. The website will automatically show the foods listed in order of what the assessors believe is best quality, and it also will show daily feeding cost (calculated from your dog's age and weight) so you can see what gives you best value for money. It has its limitations but it's a decent place to start.

I feed Gentle.

Just to confuse you more, I feed raw - many people consider it the healthiest option, so do at least consider it (it can seem daunting at first but is straightforward once you've learnt the ropes).
