Have a poorly girl

She had an antibiotic injection as she couldn’t have tablets due to not eating , just hoping we’ve turned a corner and she’s on the mend, still very sleepy and doesn’t want to do much, going to try scrambled egg for lunch and see how that goes. Phewwwwwww! What a relief that at least something has gone down into tummy. She'll be fine.....

Yeah...3 days will feel like ages when we are fidgeting over them. Maybe just forgetting 'proper' meals for time being and allowing her to have some little nice nibbles for tie being. Something you both could share as they do tend to like eat same stuff that we put into our mouths ;) Just make first some audible 'nom nom' noises and see if there is flicker of interest towards your food. Though they soon expect this to become a norm...but still..it is more important to get them to swallow something in first place.
Sometimes I can put something on our girls plate that is 'my food' and will they touch it...nope. Give that same from my fingers or allow access on my place and it is the best thing they've ever eaten :rolleyes:
 
Lily doesn’t do proper meals Finsky :D, when we lost our Springer 7 months ago we could hardly get her to eat at all, took 3 months before she really ate anything as she was so sad and lonely :( will hardly touch dog food even now so we have to get down her what we can, every day is a task to find something she’ll happily eat, some days she’ll eat a little bit of dog food and the next day just ignores it and walks away, getting used to it now but it’s not easy. But today she has had quite a selection :rolleyes: Weetabix, Spoonful of porridge, half a rich tea biscuit, couple of very small pieces of roast lamb and a scrambled egg! Yay! :D:D Oh and a bowl of tea and lots of drinks of water! Feel quite chuffed :rolleyes:

Ah, I see...well what she has eaten there, can I come over for a supper!? :D I bet it feels great that she has eaten.
My little one is having one of those 'I AM NOT EATING THAT day'..so yes, I can relate to your struggles. Older one is usually the funny eater, but for my surprise lately she is been tucking in with a appetite.
Little one is usually like a hoover, picking all the best bits from the plate..but last night her greediness and speed of eating made her bring it all back up later on. So today she has been giving me sad eyes as the food on the plate has been less inviting..back to 'straight and narrow'. Her tummy is rumbling but she ain't giving in quite yet, though I just managed to get her to swallow about teaspoon of food, given shot of pro-kolin and she is now resting. It could be something to do with her first season that she is just in the middle of..bless. Hormones can do funny things..
 
They are so funny! :D It was lovely seeing Lily eat, just tried again with some lamb but no way will she have any. When Molly was here she had competition, now there’s nothing to fight for :oops:
How old is your eldest one? I would love to have a consistent eater :)
Could well be the hormones with your little one...does funny things to us ladies...well..use to in my case :D

Eldest is about 18 months and little one is just coming on 7 months. Yeah...bloody hormones...that is as much as I like to say what they do to us :rolleyes::mad:
 
What's the virus that's going round? Ted was ill the other day. Sick and no appetite. Sometimes he doesn't eat his breakfast right away so didn't think much of it. By the time I went to bed I was ready to take him to the vets in the morning but he ate some tuna. He's been fine since... can they get tummy bugs like we do?
 
If you google dog virus Teddy it tells you how many cases there are out there, more in certain areas than others. We’re in Surrey and there’s been quite a few cases here, makes them so poorly , get to the vet straight away if you see any signs of continual sickness ( Lily was being sick every 10 mins throughout the day ) bloody diarrhoea , lethargy and lack of appetite. Thankfully she seems to be on the mend but it really frightened me to see her so ill. Usually only lasts 3 to 4 days but affects the oldies a bit more .

One vet from my locality has been recently issuing warnings about this winter's dog virus in national papers. I can't remember hearing as many dogs being ill with it before. I started to hear some cases already before Xmas and I know one dog from our dog walking area that indeed lost a battle for it :(
But is has been so wet and mild weather so far...plenty of mud about so there is plenty of opportunity for the dogs pick up all sorts on their feet, very difficult to prevent other than trying to clean up after the walks and trying to find less busy walking areas. But it is still a game of lottery.
As for my little one..don't know if it was something to do with her season or not, but mine has just woken up and decided it is was time to check upon the contents of her plate.. :) Even she didn't have a lot, having even a little bit is a sign of feeling better or giving up the battle of wills and admitting the food was edible after all :rolleyes:
 
I haven't heard anything about it up here. Ted's back to normal now. Makes sense though. The winter has been really mild this year too which probably doesn't help.

Doing really well thanks Jo :rolleyes: had first poo last night since Tuesday :eek: was getting a bit concerned but all good now :) not eating a great deal but that’s normal for Lily! Going for little walks , does get tired but with the virus and her age she’s coping ok. Just relieved she’s on the mend :) thank you for thinking of her xx
