That’s what I’d heard, about their temperaments. I met one once, it was a dainty little thing, there’s quite a size range. I am sure you could squeeze one of the littler ones in!

We got him at around 7 months old from a breeder who had been in hospital so didn't part them from the mother until she was out and able. So he missed a lot of basic puppy skills and was very fearful of everything. As he aged this fear snowballed into a fear based upfront aggression to dogs and strangers. We are working on him.. but in the house and with family he is so gentle and sensitive. On a plus side they never bark unless being aggressive. So yeah to answer your question they've very tricky dogs to handle behaviour wise. Thabkfully we own a decent sized private land for him to safely roam and run around. He will really miss my old girl, she taught him all he knows

I imagine, if their original purpose was for hunting wolves, they’re not going to be shrinking violets. Someone had a couple in the area near us, and I think quite a few people were not very happy, because, unlike the responsibility you’re taking, these ones were nit really under control. Not somewhere I walked, thank goodness.

Oh I loooove Borzois! And all sighthounds. Are the difficulties with Borzois any different to those standard for other sighthounds, e.g. prey drive, independence, having their own agenda, sensitivity (the latter maybe leading to fear aggression)?

Judy you're completely right there. All of those traits! :)
 
Sounds like right up my street then, @muse! I tend to think of sighthounds not as tricky, just in need of understanding - treating them as a bog standard dog just isn't going to work;)
 
You’ll probably be ok, if you stick at one, JudyN, with your sighthound experience. Tgey are gorgeous. They’re trained to bring down wolves as a team, and, if Hugo’s teeth are anything to go by, they’re pretty big! ;)
 
Im not sure, she looks very Border Collie to me, but whatever she is bread with made her turn out a very pretty dog.
