Itchy puppy

I have a 4 month old pug/ Jr cross who itch's and rubs against the furniture.im told this is common with pugs.he is currently on pedigree biscuits mixed with a pouch.i took him to the vets and his opinion was it was due to a change of environment which I wasn't entirely sure was correct.iv since put him on cod liver oil and swapped his puppy biscuits to grain free and hyper allergen puppy biscuits in the hope his skin improves and the itchiness stops.has anyone had a puppy with similar problems..forgot to add I have bathed him in antibacterial dog shampoo see if that helps but no luck

Be careful with cod liver oil, vitamin A is stored in the dog's liver too and can build up. A fish oil from the body of the fish rather than the liver might be a better long term solution.

Our boy had really bad skin, we tried cod liver oil capsules but stopped using them for the reason mentioned above. We were nervous about giving him too much vitamin a. Once we started giving him an actual piece of raw mackeral daily in his food (we feed raw) his skin got much better. Also his coat is much shinier and glossier as well.

Ah- another itchy puppy! Good advice to try diet- but if no improvement you can ask your vet to do a skin scrape to rule out parasites in the skin- very common in puppies. I don't think anti-bacterial shampoo touches them. And no you won't be able to see mites with the naked eye.

Hi.yes if the food dosent work then your advice regarding contacting vet is my next option to rule any parasites out as you said
