Hi Everyone

I have just joined this forum and I’m wondering if anyone could help me. I have a cocker spaniel and today I have noticed that her nose looks different. It’s really hard to explain so I’ll try my best. Her nose has seemed to have stooped down in th middle and lifted towards the end, so she looks more ‘piggy’. She doesn’t seem in pain with it, there’s no discharge, we’ve felt around her nose and everything. We’ve looked in her mouth aswell and looked at the roof of her mouth. We don’t know what has happened and what has caused it. We did phone the vet, but because of the current situation they’re only seeing emergencies and we tried to explain it on the phone and they didn’t have an idea on what it could be.
I was just wondering if anyone could help or has any advice or maybe any experience of this.

Thanks
Hannah

Is it possible to post a photo - or several photos, to get different angles? It would also be worth showing your vet photos.

How old is she, and do you think this has been a gradual change, or a sudden one?

I’ve attched some photos. She is 4 years old. It’s a sudden change we noticed. She went to bed Thursday night and then yesterday we noticed it. Yes that will be our next thing to do showing photos to the vets. They’re only seeing emergencies at the moment due to the current situation.

Could she possibly have an insect bite or sting, and rather than being down in the middle it is raised on both sides of that?

It does look normal in the photos but of course that's because we don't know what it looked like before. Hopefully you and your vet can get to the bottom of it. My guess would be that if it's not causing any secondary symptoms then you have nothing to worry about for now and just keep an eye on her for further changes - but that is just a guess backed by no expertise whatsoever!

Have you any pictures of before, to help us see the difference.

Hi Everyone

Thank You for your replies. We took her to the vets this morning as her nose ballooned up. The vet thinks it’s a reaction to something, so she’s been given steroids and antihistamine tablets.

That's good news, because now you have answers and treatment. I hope she makes a full recovery very soon.
