Lucy’s Law spells the beginning of the end for puppy farming This became law, finally, earlier this year. Please anyone who has recently bought a pup or is thinking of getting a pup please read this. If you have bought a pup recently and you didn't see them with mum you can still report the sellers. Please do, we all have a duty of care and as dog lovers we all need to do our bit to help stop puppy farms.

I have reported several so called breeders on gumtree ...Gumtree do take notice ......

@Tinytom it may also be worth contacting your local animal welfare team to express your concerns over these 'breeders' adverts on gumtree, nothing to lose by flagging stuff up to them and possibly a lot to gain from it...

I have been in touch with my local dog warden just to get clarification on this law. It is only the 3rd party seller that is breaking the law - the puppy purchaser would not get into trouble for reporting though may however be called to court as a witness if the case actually gets to court.
You can report to your local council Animal Welfare Team(Dog Wardens) or go through Citizens Advice Consumer Service.
Just incase any one in this position was worried about reporting...

Flobo ...i did send an email to our local dogwarden/animal welfare officer re gumtree adverts and was told (politely ) that they didnt have the time or manpower to police freeads:mad::(:(:(

@Tinytom That is so frustrating! Even if they had taken the details from you, re your concerns, to potentially add to other reports if they came in, that would be something...:( I suppose we can just hope that people who are looking to buy a pup now go through the process of doing a bit of research and finding a genuine breeder or choose to rescue instead...
And also just keep making people aware of the warning signs that flag up puppy farming.
