Hi
Jase here, we have a 4 year old cocker/cain terrier cross. He's a massive part of the family and our first dog. We're here for tips and advice on a few issues we have.

Thanks guys he has proved to be hard work, our lawn has more holes than Swiss cheese and he loves to let people know he's here good job we're not green fingered. He's settling down with the digging as he gets older, although he's got a thing for reflections, as in sunlight, we can see he's not happy when he sees it, doesn't settle and gets transfixed. We are worried that it may be a problem he won't 'grow out' of.

How old is he now? Are there specific places where he sees reflections, and would you be able to block them in some way?

He's 4 (yesterday) mainly in the garden when the sun reflects from glass, i.e windows, doors, glasses, phones. If these items move he goes mad, tail in a spin and barking. We did cover the windows with brown paper which worked but the paper didn't last long and also not practical. We've tried distraction but to no avail. It's a concern as he's normally so happy and we can see that this is upsetting for him.

Thanks for your reply, OCD is also our fear, the article you linked sounds like Eddie to a tee. The idea of a frozen kong is great though, we do have one so will try that. We'll gather some more research and maybe contact our vet for advice. Once again, thank you.

You can buy opaque film that clings to windows (rather than sticks so leaves no mess when you peel it off, and is reusable if you wish). It would diffuse the reflection.

I think it is important to break the habit before it becomes an obsession. Collies are known for this, so there might be more information on collie specific sites.

Thanks, we'll definitely look into that, anything that diffuses or lessens it would be a great help.
