Hi everyone. Thanks for accepting me to the group. I joined because my vet diagnosed an anal sac abscess on my dog yesterday. I was shocked because there was absolutely no indication that this was happening, I just took her because I knew her anal glands needed emptying. He said the reason I didn't know was that I had caught it really early on. The thing is she doesn't fit the criteria to cause the problem. She is not overweight her poo is solid and could easily press on the glands. So I do not know what to do so that this doesn't happen again.

I'd say if her glands needed emptying, then it maybe isn't pressing on the glands quite enough.

You could try adding fibre to her diet.

Hi and welcome . :)
My little chi had one. I give her a piece of carrot every day and she seems to be ok now.
