i know some don’t like my posts but come on has the racism, black lives matter, tensions, us and them, pc, madness, now totally gone potty, so countryside is white only, ? Really? Are we stopping them from going there? Too be honest are they really interested in this part of the country? If they are then fine with me,Geez ,this was on countryside on beeb 1 tonight, they going overboard now and taking every angle possible. Please let sence prevail.

No, I doubt there is many who would have any issues people with colour exploring the countryside. Those who do they would be against them in any given situation.
This is it what bothers me...why does everything has to be about 'us & them'..there is too much 'descriptions' going on that separate people. Like when you read newspaper articles about somebody and they mention person who comment something about their age and where they from or what they do for living....when those details don't have any connection to do with what is reported, they should be left out!
To me sounds like media is on a mission to stir things up and trying to find something to write about.

Oh another one...
There has been on tv about certain ethnic groups in UK don't tend to go to countryside...it is not in their culture to venture that way. So some charities have done work to arrange some trips to see wildlife and farm animals and short walks outdoors so people from city community circles get introduction and experience different kind of life to their own.
But from my own experience...I don't come across many ramblers and dog walkers in those little further away places that are other ethnic origin than 'whites'...certainly I don't have nothing against anybody as long as they behave, don't damage the nature and take their litter with them when they go back home.

When I was in hospital after having DS2, my husband took DS1 to his mother and toddler group (I doubt they would give it such a sexist name now). Of course there were no rules against this, and I'm sure no one in the group would have admitted to not being happy about a father turning up, but he felt completey shunned - and he's not one to imagine this stuff.

Maybe this is how some ethnic minorities feel, if not every day of their lives, but in many situations. Racial bias is often unconscious, and can show itself in very subtle ways, but humans are also very good at picking up subtle body language. I didn't see the programme, but when we don't have direct experience of someone's experience we need to keep an open mind.

I think it's wise to remember that what we read in the papers and see/hear on TV and radio isn't the truth.

I think the media have jumped on the racism bandwagon to stir up trouble now the coronavirus isnt headlines and brexit ....

It was from a black chap, when I see a black man walk into a pub or cafe, restaurant I for one don’t stare at him and his family, so I say again most of them just are not interested, it may change a bit now as covid but it’s just another angle to make the news and that does worry me What’s next?

We live in a realtivily small village and we have one black person in our road ...she moved in 13 yrs ago with her white partner and 2 mixed race children ...she set up a business which is still doing well ...i really hadnt thought of her skin colour ...she is just a lovely person ...

Of course nothing wrong with them, they the black groups are just saying it’s a white environment, well I can’t see we are stopping them , they choose not to go but since the floyd death is now whites only , it isn’t it’s just they don’t want to go, everything is all getting taken out of context .

I think it's more an oversimplification in the media to try and explain a very complicated situation. Racial bias over generations has resulted in lower earning potential for ethnic minorities. This is improving but with the worst schools in the UK typically being in inner cities in areas with a high proportion of BAME people, and no significant increases to the resources provided to improve these schools, it's an uphill battle. The countryside is not proedominantly white out of overt racism, more that it is predominantly middle class in many areas with either services being more expensive or more travel being required to recieve the same services. As a result BAME people are essentially "priced out" of the countryside due to the (and I must stress on average) lower earning potential that is typically the result of starting with less resources and access to lower education resources when young. That system puts them at a disadvantage through no fault of any individuals and as a side effect makes the countryside more white. What can be argued historically is that policy makers intentially put laws in place and directed resources to prevent BAME individuals from getting the same start and therefore being able to move to the suburbs and countryside, a popular retirement location for many politicians.

Yes, it is a catchy oversimplification to say that the countryside is "whites only" and most people in the countryside would welcome more diversity. However, we have systems in place either through neglect or active intent that prevent BAME people having the same oportunities and therefore countryside living is not as viable to them.
