Hi,

I have a wonderful companion a saluki collie cross.... he is a beautiful companion. He is a rescue but I was lucky enough to get him as a puppy....he is 9 now and has enriched my life so much.

Hello and welcome:)
As for flea treatment I use eacesto tablets from my vet, spot on's are no good for my dogs as they swim most days:)

Have you made sure he is wormed properly ...if they have fleas they often have worms ...

Saluki x Collie.... Now that's my kind of dog. Is he a straight cross or 3/4.

Welcome. I'm another lurcher fan.

Last time mine had a flea outbreak, my vet recommended a Seresto collar. I was dubious - I hate chemicals, but that's the only way to manage a serious infestation. However, it worked and none of them was ill. I didn't spray the house because - I hate chemicals! And I didn't need to.

If it's only the odd flea, the flea comb that electrocutes them is very satisfying to use. But possibly your dog's coat might be too long for that, although lurchers usually have bare tummies.

Yes but - a highly intelligent mad box of frogs? What could possibly go wrong? :D

Anything and everything can go wrong, but when they know when to stop being a dickhead and bring their A game to the table they are a sight to behold. When they are stood motionless with that 1000 yard stare, you are waiting for that first twitch...... BOOM... they are gone, it takes your breath away as you watch poetry in motion. I love em

A beautiful flookie ....nickname for saluki x collie

Hello, Welcome.
About 3 summers ago we were plagued with fleas, we suspected one particular place that we walked the dogs.
House, soft furnishing and car were treated with "Indorex", all bedding washed and hoovering daily. Of course the dogs were being treated but I can not remember exactly with what.
I don't like continuous monthly treatments and spoke with my vet. It was suggested that "activyl" was to be used as it did not have any of the same ingredients in as the treatment I was using at the time.
We have never looked back, the activyl (a spot on) sorted out our problem very quickly:rolleyes:
We only use flea treatment when fleas are seen on the dogs and never as a monthly treatment. Activyl also has also a treatment for ticks and fleas, the tick protection lasted for 6 weeks from just one treatment. Normally my husband checks the dogs for ticks and pulls them off himself.
Activyl is a POM.
