Hi there, my family and I are about to rehome a lovely male 4 year old ex racing greyhound. i want to make sure i get the dietary side of things spot on. any pointers would be appreciated.

Burns isn't a great food. Have a look at AllAboutDogFood.co.uk You can put in the details of your dog, and your budget, and it will recommend foods, giving them a rating.

Or consider a raw diet, which I and others here consider the best option.

Greyhounds often have manky teeth. I'm not sure if it's congenital, or if it's because they're not fed great foods when they're young. A raw diet that includes bones and maybe whole bits of muscle meat can really help here. Or you could try getting your dog to let you brush their teeth (once they've settled in and trust you).

I wish you well - they’re a lovely breed, so very gentle. I switched our rescued whippet to a raw diet about six months ago and haven’t looked back. Depending upon where you live you may find a raw food specialist outlet in the vicinity. It’d be well worth a trial. Anyway, I hope it all goes well. Send photos.

Good on you, great dogs are greyhounds. It's pretty odds on that part of your greyhounds diet will of been raw food. It doesn't make sense to feed them cheap food when they are racing. You can't train greyhounds to run at their peak by filling its tank up with crap. From a personal point,All the racing greyhounds I've known raw food was part of their diet.
