Black spots on puppy’s belly

Hi all, are these freckles or something that the vet should have a look at?

Puppy is 9 weeks old and these were light in colour and a lot smaller when she came to us, the size and colour isn’t changing the last few days.
Puppy isn’t scratching or licking so I’m unsure if it’s just freckles or some skin issue.

If it doesn't wash off and because it is not bothering your dog, it is quite likely be just different skin pigmentation. Sometimes they just come and go and that is quite likely caused by sun, if they stay, it is more likely just natural 'spotting'...like a 'freckles' with us humans. I've read somewhere that some of those markings are due to hormonal changes with puppies combined with sun light. So as long as they don't bother her, they don't become raised/flaky/weep/bleed, then I would not be worried. When you go and see vet next time, you can always ask during same visit what they think of it but one of my youngster have something similar and I've seen those before with my past dogs too. Some dogs just develop spotty belly skin as they grow up

Very likely hyperpigmentation which is caused by an increase in melanin. Melanin is the natural pigment that gives skin, hair and eyes their colour. A number of factors can trigger an increase in melanin production, but the main ones are sun exposure, hormonal influences, age and skin injuries or inflammation. The black spots are in most cases harmless and not a cause for concern especially if they are not accompanied by signs of irritation..... fairly normal in a pup of that age.... just keep an eye on them to ensure there are no changes especially colour changes in which case ask your vet to check them when you take your pup in for its first vet check/vaccinations.
