Tails dog food

Hi,
I'm new here, I have an ?American bully? She's a rescue, and we think this is what she is.

I'm having some issues, she came from a poor diet before we got her, since tailoring her food and understanding her preferences we decided to give Tails a go as we have heard nothing but good things!
Only problem is, the existing skin conditions have got worse, even though we stated she had sensitive skin. She has mild dandruff and dryness usually, but since the tails started she gets sores and scabs.

I'm just wondering, has anyone else experienced this? What is the reputation??? I feel awful that we could have made her condition worse when we thought we were doing right!

Tails isn’t as individually tailored as the makers would have you believe. They have a number of different kibbles and just mix them, but if you ask for something really specific like grain free, chicken free and low fat, they can’t deliver. So, if it isn’t suiting her, don’t feel bad about changing it.

It’s an independent review site that scores foods based on what the assessors believe to be best quality. It has its limitations but it’s a decent place to start.

Do consider a raw diet - it can improve some skin conditions enormously. There's several raw feeders here so if you want to investigate that route, we can give lots of advice.

Tails.com dog food is not as good as they tell you. (their in it to make money)
There are a LOT of cheap fillers including; grain, peas, sugar beet, potatoes, and un-specified derivatives, so where is the meat
This food will be highly processed, processing food destroys much of the benefits of the ingredients, artificial vitamins and minerals have to be added to compensate for this.

As @JudyN has mentioned a"Raw" diet could help.

There are lots of positive reports of dogs with allergies, scurfy skin and itches who have changed to a natural raw diet and who's conditions have changed for the better.

Raw does not mean mess or blood, there are a lot of good suppliers on line who supply nicely presented and easy to use frozen raw products. (even some of our local butchers can help)

I don’t have the space to feed raw but would if I could

I have just moved my pup on to orijen- it’s expensive but it is suiting my pup and seems to be as close to raw feeding in a kibble
