A ferrety update

Flobo, my sympathies and thoughts.

Ok, some sad news... We had to say goodbye to our lovely Sid nearly 2 weeks ago now. I thought I'd be able to type this with no tears but it seems I can't... We are all heartbroken... He went peacefully in my arms at the vets, his last bounce back didn't last long and it was his time, sleeping his long sleep now, buried next to Winnie.
Rip our very special old man Sid.
Aww...so sorry your little big character has gone. It has been so entertaining hear the updates what you ferrets get up to and even Sid's name was a promise of something special to read about. X

So sorry to hear this ...nothing prepares us for losing them ...big hugs xxxx
Run free over rainbow bridge Sid xxx

Thankyou... I'm just off to plant my mini narcissi bulbs for him. It's a little ritual I seem to have, come spring there is a patch in my front garden that bursts with beautiful shades of yellow and orange, which always makes me smile as I remember all of my little critters buried there...

I cheered myself up by buying the boys a brand new double decker cage! They absolutely love it, up til now they've had a single layer large cage on the floor below Sid's double decker. Sid's cage was a big one in the grand scheme of things(all my other ferrets have been girls and half the size of the brothers!) but it just wasn't big enough for Goose and Iggy to move into.
So a new cage it was! Though I have never seen 2 ferrets go up and down a pretty wide, solid ladder so awkwardly!!:D
Iggy got the all clear from the vet re his spleen, it had gone down in size and stayed that way after finishing the meds, so that was a big phew... at the moment they are growing their winter coats and are both looking exceptionally lush and handsome!:D I will endeavour to get pics of them if they stay still for long enough!

It's good to see Iggy is better - and do please share photos of their new pad. I have a thing about rodent cages, I'm the sort of person who could fall in love with a cage and only then decide I need a new rat or two  (Though there's so many blinking cables in this house I'm not sure that will ever be on the cards.)

Yes it is such a relief about Iggy, Goose was totally lost without him for those few hours he was at the vets for his dental. (The downside of them being siblings I suppose, though Iggy didn't care less when it was the other way round!)
Here's a pic of the new pad and one of them snoozing in their downstairs hammock:) I don't know why my pics are blurry at the mo, unless it's just my glasses or eyes or an inability to just work my silly phone!..

Thought I'd sort a few new pics of the boys to post. They're both doing really well and still both as nutty as a fruit cake!:D
And of course always up to mischief...:D They will be 4 years old on 12th May:eek:, where has that time gone!!

Apologies, I couldn't decide which ones to post so I did a load!!... enjoy!20220116_123918.jpg 20220130_135437.jpg 20220126_122740.jpg VideoCapture_20220412-141706.jpg VideoCapture_20220217-200108.jpg VideoCapture_20220217-223957 (1).jpg VideoCapture_20220326-181402.jpg VideoCapture_20220408-164941.jpg VideoCapture_20220220-190417.jpg

It's actually quite nice now I don't board as much as I did pre covid, the boys can just stay out(within reason!)a lot longer. At the moment Iggy's mooching about and Goose has gone back in the cage for his tea and bed. If I've had the cage open some afternoons when I'm just working at home, Goose generally comes out and Iggy doesn't even notice the cage is open! He has to go past the open door to go for a wee and he still just goes back to bed!:D

Thought it's been a while since I updated on the boys:) Thankfully they're both doing well and are as mad as a box of frogs still!!:D
Usually they have their own favourite type of toy/things to steal but recently they've both decided that a particular semi hard foam ball is both their absolute must have thing! It's very funny watching one run past with it on a mission to stash then a few minutes later the other one will appear with it running the other way, where he's stolen it back!
Iggy, of course, is way more imaginative about where he hides it and Goose, of course, places it in the same 3 spots virtually every time:D:D:D Goose only really gets lucky if he clocks Iggy disappearing with it, then he'll follow, watch and wait for Iggy to walk away, then steal it back again.
They are both pretty clever in very different ways  hours of amusement! Here's some more pics, Goose's other name is 'bin boy' as you can see from the photos, he loves it in there(only when it's empty btw!) and will roll around in it and generally have a great time all on his own, he is an odd boy!:D

They are gorgeous.

I don't know if I ever mentioned, but we found a ferret in our garden some years ago. It was super-friendly, I handed it into the vet to trace the owner. But it smelled really strong! Would there be a reason for that?
