I have owned various dogs in the past. A bearded collie cross, doberman,a min pin and my adored bomb proof medium sized mongrel.
After a few years of being dogless, my home situation wasn't right, I'm considering a dog again.
I need to research carefully. Find the right fit for me. So I thought this forum would be a good place to get a clear eyed view.

Hi and welcome. What is your list of must/must not attributes?

Hi and welcome from me too. That's a nice mix of dogs you've had there:)

Hi and welcome. What is your list of must/must not attributes?
I'm looking for a young dog not a pup.
I work 3 days a week. My mother can provide doggy day care with her very chilled dog.

Hi and welcome. What is your list of must/must not attributes?
Must haves.
Good steady character so we can go anywhere.
Biddable but with its own character.
Ground clearance with easy clean coat. (Lots of country walks so not a muck hoover.) Robust health.
Size toy to medium. Something I can pick up if I have to.
Not keen on.
Nervous or agressive
Flat faces ( breathing problems and drool)
Short legs. High maintenance coats.
I work 3 days a week so it would have to be comfortable going to my mum and her very sociable dog.
So I'm looking at probably a family dog that needs a new home. A pup would have to wait till I can retire and can give it the time it needs
Maybe the time still isn't right. But I can look.

A border terrier comes to mind, however looking for a young adult will restrict your choices a bit - not that you should let that stop you of course. There will likely be breed specific rescue groups.
