Would it be worth you asking at a local grooming parlour?
I did wonder about that but thought it a bit cheeky if we were not having him booked in. We would let a groomer to this - but - we are still learning with Teddy. He is getting better but very wary if you go by his face and is finally laying down to be stroked and relaxed. So to take him to a groomer we decided too much for him at the moment - so would a groomer mind?
He totally adores me because I spent more time with him and Rosie in his first 3 weeks as my husband had an accident and was confined to bed - typical!!! (It was his idea to let Rosie have puppies.
)
Having had dogs for years we never experienced a singleton puppy, He was huge, born by caesarian and there were so many things we didn't know that we could have done to help him. So he started off his life not having to share e.g. puppy pen, Rosie, feeding was whatever he chose i.e. no other puppies to say move over. So born March 24 he is slowly adapting - but - separation anxiety if he is away from me BUT recall is a doddle!

I think if you asked nicely, and explained that you can't take him to a groomer yet because he is a little nervous, they'll be fine with it - after all, they will presumably be a dog lover, and that yet suggests you might be a future customer He's lucky to have such an understanding owner.
He's lucky to have such an understanding owner.Our local groomer was very understanding and suggested a couple. I actually went online to a company that sells clippers, etc for horses and dogs. I sent them a photo of Teddy and asked what electric clippers she would recommend. The lady was so helpful and said he was like her terrier cross Jackapoo. She suggested Smart Grooming Smart Tails Yellow Handle Range that she uses. We purchased them and straight away a success. So no worry about him not liking a electric clipper noise and he just let us comb him through and we soon had a handful of hair. We can tidy the rest with scissors that we have with a rounded end.

For thick coats, I’d recommend going for clippers with a strong motor — something like Andis or Wahl tends to handle dense fur well. Make sure to get one with detachable blades so it’s easier to clean and switch lengths. Also, brushing before clipping really helps avoid snagging. Good luck with Teddy!

I suggest a corded model, instead of battery powered. The corded models seem to have more power than the battery powered units.
The battery powdered Wahl Arco always bogged down on my late Mini Aussie's coat, while a cheap Andis corded model always cut thru his thick hair like butter. (he had a very thick/long coat)
