I clicked on the W at the top of the page (top left) and I got this message

Clicking on the W should give you the opportunity to change your avatar (It's W for Willowtigger). I think you need to have made a certain number of posts before you are permitted to set up your own avatar. Try again when you've made a dozen or so posts, and if you get the problem again, let me know so I can feed it up to admin.

Yep, see what happens when you have made more posts.
 
Do you know how many posts it is? This forum must be linked to WordPress as without touching anything my avatar has automatically, on account creation without an option to upload an image, become a photo I had on a WP website at one point. Bit of a surprise to see Petra's face from 2015..!

I thought it was around 10 posts, and didn't know we had links to WP, so I'm surprised to see your avatar too! Ah, though there something about it here - I might investigate further if I find the time/energy: XFtoWP - XenForo to WordPress integration
