Firstly,Dawn & I want to thank all of you for your generosity. To date,£265 has gone into the Tilly donation fund!!!

We thought it would be a nice idea to buy Paul some sort of memorial for Tilly ,what do you all think?

The rest of the money could be split between Paul & the original rescue fund, which will now be called the Tilly memorial fund, can't remember who's idea that was,but it's a great one

We also think it would be good to carry on with the auctions so we can add more to the fund

Comments please :)

In memory of dear Tilly, run free

If Paul would like that, I would agree.

I like the idea of naming the fund after Tilly. If it could be used to help rescue whippets or assist in finding lost whippets, that is a lovely idea as she has raised awareness of missing dogs, despite her sad end. If she were mine, I would be proud of that as a lasting legacy.

I totally agree with everything you say, and well done to you for all your hard work and organization.

Agree with the 'Tilly fund' and that we should carry on with the auctions to boost it. As Jo says this is a lasting legacy to her and it's a brilliant idea.

Re the money to Mally to buy a tribute for Tilly - if that's what he wants then I agree.

I don't know what Mally would feel would be a fitting memorial for Tilly but I tend to think if it was me I would sooner all the funds raised stayed together and it was named after her. I just think an item isn't really going to bring comfort but the thought of her charity money helping other owners really is a priceless way of immortalising her name.

Another thing I wanted to add, the auctions, I think they should be given a seperate forum and kept going. We all end up with ill fitting dog coats / collars etc and folk could bag a bargain whilst contributing to the fund.

There could also be events held to contribute to the fund, for example a yearly anniversary dog walk, whippet fun days etc.

Obviously with this ongoing funding, the monies raised from previous donation requests and the money recently raised for Tilly, it may be worthwhile for this to be managed and accounted for by an elected team as it could become quite substantial over time.

I agree with the seperate link for auction items so that they can be seen easier.

I agree with Wild Whppets esp about the management of the fund as I would hate for it to become a source of disagrement amoung K9ers.

I'm concerned people may think I'm being distrustful, I'm not as the people involved I consider to be friends.

What worries me though is when a thread was started in the past requesting people to donate, certain individuals questioned this and the thread got ruined and along with it further donations.

I think the Tilly Memorial Fund is a wonderful idea - if Paul is happy with it.

Wild Whippies is quite right to say it should be managed, it saves possible problems in the future.

This is an excellent idea and I'm sure that a management structure for it could easily be put in place. K9 has proved twice over the past couple of weeks the need to be able to act quickly in an emergency, and some form of on-going fund raising is a good idea. I'm proud of K9 and what it has done, I wish the circumstances could have been different but to pull together like that was magnificent.
