more to the point , do you l think they would still win with you handling them  :- "
Theres no dog I would love to have handled , I can appreciate a good one handled well

I wouldnt have minded a ride on Red Rum though

:b

Gave the question a lot of thought and agree with Dessie and Jax.

Richard Gere keeps coming into my mind, not sure why :- "

Me too, I prefer to watch and let somebody else to handle any time.

And as it has been a while since i have been able to ride, getting on a horse, any horse, would be just lovely. OK preferably one over 16hands and not too old :D

Blimey (w00t) The Richard Gere thing is doing it for me, an Officer or a Gentleman

Nearly right, Yahoo was probably just in front going round the final turn but Dessie just outstayed him up the hill

I'd just like to see if there's anyone in the world who can get Cheetah to stand still!

Vanna, If you will handle Sparky, (w00t) I'll handle Cheetah

Jenny

It's worth a try! I think they'd both have a whale of a time and stick their tongues out at us both! :teehee:

Seriously, there isn't any dog I'd desperately want to handle - it's nicer to sit at the ringside and watch. Although there might be some I'd like to handle to see why on earth they win what they do. (No names, no pack drill! :- " )

Im also liking Clive Owen   I dont mind wether I `handle ` then or `ride ` them o:) I also like `jumping ` but Ive not had my spurs on for years ;)

Having a Whippet who does her best to make it look as if showing is just the BIGGEST bore in life ( ie Mabel  ) I would like to handle a real showman/girl!

Bardo or Daydream di Mahana would both be rewarding to show I think.

There are also a few Whippets who are handled sooo badly that they are made to look like a sack of spuds by their handlers- those who know me know the dog I would love to have a go at handling but I'm not telling on here! :- "

I will be handling a Dobermann for a friend this year and I'm looking forward to that- I love running round the ring with a big dog

In other breeds- I would love to handle that white Poodle that won BIS at Crufts- what a showdog! He must have been fantastic to show

  I know!

And I'm really jealous about you getting to handle a gorgeous Dobie - make sure someone takes some photos just for me!

I would LOVE to see Mike Gadsby handle Zoomie! I think his height and elegance matched with Zoomie-in-a-good-mood would be lovely to watch.

I also saw 'Angus' handle The Supermodel at Crufts three years ago and he made her look absolutely gorgeous - I truly believe a good handler can make a dog shine in the ring... if it's got the quality to start with!!! :- "

As for dogs I'd like to handle... well for the Italians it would have to be last years Crufts Best of Breed, Ch Rilloby Mikey Finn   or perhaps his sister Sky (Ch Rilloby Pie in the Sky) who is also a British and American Ch. And it's strange because they're both blue and I'm very fond of fawn iggies. (Of course I've got high hopes for my own fawn puppy Lottie, Rilloby Carlotta Mia, who makes her Ch debut at UK Toydog in March.)

In whippets - I'm not terribly up-to-date with top whippets at the moment but there are some hugely gorgeous stripey puppies on K9 that I'd love to take into a puppy class......

What a stunning mix of thoughtful comments and utter drivel. :D Just make a note of who is in the drivel department :- "

Speaking of drivel where is Cartman? 8)

Can't say there's any dog that I am gagging to handle but I would have given anything to have ridden Desert Orchid.
I'm with you Dessie. I have enough trouble trying to handle my own dogs never mind anyone elses but I, too, would have given anything to have ridden Desert Orchid. Although if you read his biography he was, apparently, a nightmare to ride because he just took hold of the bit & charged off. He had only 2 speeds, flat out & full stop.

Who is Dolly Dove?

Gail.

That's right Gail!! I remember seeing him at a charity day at Wincanton races not that long after he was retired. He was going to parade past the stands before the first race with Lester Piggott on board. Firstly we watched him in the parade ring just walking round and he absolutely outwalked every other horse but every now and again would stop and gaze into the crowd .......... he KNEW he was being admired. Then Lester was legged up and they were led round the parade ring a few more times before going out onto the course. His lad released him and he just carted Lester about 3 furlongs before he could pull him up!!!! It was brilliant but if you had blinked you would have missed him!! LOL!!!
