good news all..hes here with us!!!! :D   Picked him up today at 1pm. he is extremely timid and nervous and it was quite a task to get him out of the car and into the house. However he is sitting here with me in my room whilst I type this. He is lovely with amaizing markings..minky brown and grey on Face and patches on body and amber/grey eyes. I have to say I have never seen such a fat whippet in my life!!!!!!!!! we have not introduced him yet to our hounds but they know hes here and as does he. He is a poppet and once he has lost weight and got fit well he is stunning already. Hes a big boy standing at 23" to shoulders but definately a whippet no less! His pads are very soft so I dont think he has been walked for a long time. His teeth are good and has bright eyes and very alert. His coat is in good condition too. Have no regrets about having him..and he needed to be out of where he was. He wasnt at all bonded with the owner but did come up to me as I sat on the floor and sniffed my ears and hair and face..whicch I take as a good sign! His name is DB and they were calling him Dwain!! I dont think so...Willow maybe??? We will see how his character unfolds in time. he is going to need a great deal of patience, kindness and time before this lad is himself but we are prepared to put all the effort in!

So at last we have a whippet boy and am over the moon..... :)) will post pics in a bit...

Emma.x and Willow aka DB.xxxx

I think Willow is girly :b Whats wrong with just Will :)

How lovely, best lof luck with him :luck: :huggles:

Really pleased for you, he sounds lovely. :luck: with your new boy.

Agree Willow does sound a smidge girly, what about the name Willy?

Does he respond well to Dwaine, if he does maybe go for a name that sounds similar.

Mandy

thanks everyone...he has now met a few of the hounds now and so far so good. just big hairy Merlin and pip our older lurcher...been fine with the cat too! He has had a little supper and is settling well. If he gets a bit insecure he puts his front legs on my lap and leans nto me..bless him1 He doesnt respond to Dwain and I dont balme him either but is responding already to Willow..perhaps we can shorten it to will!!!! :)

OMG!!!! you know i've just seen the out come of this as i've been afraid to look as theses situations upset me so much but i just have to say whippetlove WE THINK YOUR AMAZING!!!!!!! what a lovely story oh the way he leans into you he obviously feels safe with you  Willow is a lovely name oh do keep us posted with his progress   all power to you for having him :)) :)) :))

I don't think I would respond to Dwaine either!!! I do think that Willow is a tad girly- Buffy the Vampire Slayer springs to mind! Not that I ever watched it,just having kids etc. I have a personal liking for 'hound' names, maybe my foxhunting background but I like things like Tangle, Piper, Swipe, etc!! But there again you are there with him, he doesn't answer to his name so you can pick something you feel fits his character.

:huggles: Obviously the sad face was not just the typical whippet one. We wish you all well.

You try shouting that at the park. William's 'officail ' name ie Willie it soon got lenghtened to William or Wills. Just imagine shouting

' COME ON WILLY'

when there are stranges about

Well done you for getting hm and givng the lovng homes he needs I am sure he will soon settle in whatever you call him

Dwain :x thought OH was ad enough whn oneof my pups got christened Nathan

:D Brillant news seems he has got the home he deserves :luck: :luck: to you all (Will sounds good) Oh just a thought Bailey seems a good name!

So very pleased that he is in a lovely home with you  - regards naming, I always give rescue dogs a completely different sounding name as sometimes they have bad associations with a previous name, and they always get used to it really quickly.

Maybe something to do with him being mainly white? - my white cat is called Dazzle. Also love names like Fleet, Breeze, Echo etc.

Very best of luck with him, what a lucky boy he is that you came along :luck: :luck:

That's a good point Zephyr - not one I'd thought of

CONGRATULATIONS on the new addition to your family. It sounds like he was meant for you. :luck: :luck: :luck: with his health and fitness regime but it sounds like he already feels so much happier and more secure with you. Been looking through all the suggested names and Bailey sounds good (are some of his patches the colour of Baileys?) and Echo has a real ring to it too. Whatever you call him, he sure is a lucky boy to have found such a great home. :D
