With the racing season having ended and a number of dogs being entered for the forth coming lure coursing meetings it was decided to run a practice session (not that many of then needed it)

A fair turn out of 10 whippet (and 1 lurcher for a try)

it was nice to finaly meet mini me after chatting on K9 for a while, it was also nice to see Paul Bywater back up this way with his dog Barleys Lad.

the whippets were put into pairs and ran from slips, the course was set at approximatly 500yds with 6 turns.

some good courses took place today with plenty of early pace being shown by some and stamina by others.

A big thank you to Bob for doing the majority of the rethreading.

to make it a bit more fun it was decided to run a knock out so we ended up with a winner.

Judge ~ Mr Steven Spears (self proclaimed legeoned in the sack :- " )

Slipper ~ Mr Jeff Hutchings

Lure Driver ~ Mr Mark Roberts

:( darn :( the lads could have done with some practice

Looks like a great day ....Jacob, Supe and Vinnie are now starting to get VERY worried  ......

Thanks Jeff for slipping, Mark for 'driving' and Steven acting judge for the day.

Was good fun today and my girls enjoyed themselves too. Think I enjoy it as much as i do! :- "

The total focus in all the dogs faces always makes me smile and is a look i will never forget. That in itself is a constant reminder as to what the whippet was bred for.

Chris, it would be nice if the girls were as successful next week.... I aint counting my chickens just yet :)

We will enjoy ourselves no matter what.

I tell you what Sarah. The boy ZORRO is looking decidedly shakey. I don't know whether it is the effect of fireworks outside  or the prospect of being first in slips with your girl next Saturday :teehee:

First of a few I will upload as I get them finished...
