Never had a problem with Rifle before but our next door neighbours have decided to have a firework party tonight with display standard fireworks. The last 30 minutes have been like living in a war zone, Rifle is in his snugglebed on the sofa, shaking, they are SO loud despite double glazing, almost need ear defenders.

Ban the wretched things I say!

I'm with you there lal

I've got one thats not phased at all - the other poor boy is shaking and panting :(

as a vet nurse and dog groomer i am being asked all the time when is something going to be done about these awful fireworks.

i am lucky as none of my dogs are worried but i used to have a dog who was so scared he would climb over stair gates and find his way to my bed and get under the duvet shakking his little macho heart out - i feel every emotion my dogs do and i for one wish they were banned for all the animals who are petrified and thats not just dogs - horses cattle and sheep are not even mentioned most of the time never mind innocent wildlife.

i opened my door this evening to an utter warzone going on 360 degrees around me - luckily im in the sticks and most of it is distant but my heart went out to the owl who hooted pitifully from a nearby wood!

ive seen many petitions over the years but they do not seem to be being heard by anyone.

whippets en mass marching to downing street anyone...............?

 o:)

i couldnt agree with u more! they r a menace and nothing more than gloryfied bombs!

i think its time that the only fireworks you could watch are in organised displays, atleast that way folk would know from say 8pm - 8.30pm on the 5th you would have to stay in. as it is you need to be with ur dogs for 2 weeks before and 1 after bonfire night!

Well eventually, after over an hour, Beirut finally calmed down! My friends lab was hyperventilating, absolutely past herself. Rifle is a mummy's boy and with his snugglebed to hide in, music turned up, eventually realised he wasn't being attacked and did settle, but only after vomiting twice!!

What pleasure can people gain from playing with, what are effectively explosives!! Why do people encourage their kids to be drawn to these things? Sparklers are considered to be 'for children' yet they heat to something like 300 degrees!! What sensible parent put these in their child's hand!!

Bless my kids, they are not interested in fireworks, my 16yr old daughter took my friends lab upstairs, cuddled her up in a duvet under her desk, and put some nice music on for her.

The boys took care of Rifle and Miss, the collie, distracted them with squeaky toys and cursed Guy Fawkes for the effect all this was having on the animals.

I feel heart sorry for wild animals, stray animals etc. Ours are at home being cared for

dylan was a shaking mess last nite nite, although he calmed down after a while, charlie was'nt fazed by em at all, although he def knew somethin was up with dyl

after gypsy being scared to death by a firework while she was having a pee about 10 days ago, i was so suprised over the weekend and last night, she wasnt bothered at all, even went out in the garden

I agree and it has been a war zone for 4 days! Eric was ok,Apart from the really loud ones  I loved bonfire night as a kid,But it only lasted one night! And there were more displays about and the actual fireworks did'nt explode/bang as loudly.

It's like most things now....X.mas it starts too early and goes on and on!
