Just got back to snowy Norway after spending three weeks in Spain. Mac came as well and absolutely loved it! We lived in a lovely big villa with a secure garden and he was able to go in and out as he pleased. Most days he spent hours on the sun bed... He loved to go go for long walkes on the beach and so did I. He travelled well down to Spain and didn't even do a wee in the crate.

Came back to Norway at two in the morning due to delays (snowstorms). It's been snowing ever since and I need a shovel to get the car out... Wondering how much a ticket back to Spain is.....

Lucky Mac! Have you got any piccies of him sunbathing? Where abouts in Spain were you?

How long did it take you to get to your holiday ?,and how do the dogs manage to go from cold to hot and back to cold again.?

Any pics

Glad you all had a good holiday Cathrine...

have you any pictures of Mac sunning himself...

The flight was about four hours and I checked him in an hour before. He travelled well and was not not upset at all when I collected him. We were in Costa Del Sol, used to live there a few years ago and it was nice seeing friends. A lot of bars and restaurants even allow you to take your dog in, so Mac was delighted! It was not a problem with the climate, it is not too hot there in the winter. It is about 20-22 on a sunny day, just lovely! I will post some pics when I get around to unpack my camera and everything else.... Soon!

glad you had a nice time, w are off to spain on the 20th........cant wait

we've just been to see friends who've moved to Alicante - they took their dog with them as you say she goes into the bars/pubs with them :) I had to do a double take when I saw a bichon coming out with the luggage at the airport, and there were 2 westies being checked in when we came home - looks like jet setting dogs are on the increase.

I wouldnt mind getting passports for 2 of mine eventually so we can go out and stay a bit longer with them but I'd be a bit worried about the creepy crawlies

I think it is ok to travel with the dog if they can handle it. Mac is a robust type and is not bothered by things like flying. The other dog on my flight was not very happy, howling and barking. I would not take a dog if it was as scared as that. But Mac would not cope very well in boarding kennels so for him it was better to come. It is cheap to bring the dogs on the flights from Norway, it cost me about 50 pounds for his return ticket.

I don't like the creepy crawlies either, but you can prevent that easily. I used Bayvantic vet for fleas, ticks and it also keeps the mosquitoes and sandflies away. That way you take away a lot of the risk with leishmanose and heartworm. If your dog is vaccinated against the normal things, as well as rabies you are all right :- )

I loved to have him with me!

Glad you and Mac had a nice time  Look forward to the photos, some snowy Norway ones would be nice too! :D

Great photos

Brilliant bet you enjoy your holiday more not worrying about how he is at home :D

Thanks! And yes, that was one of the reasons to bring him :- )

Fab piks, love the one of Mac peeping through the door, reminds me of my lad who's a character. He's in fab condition for his holiday and he doesn't even have a tan!

Love the footprints shot too, very sweet.

Cathrine, those are really good photos... I so love the one of Mac relaxing on the chair... :huggles:  he looks such a loveable lad... :huggles:

Thanks for the compliments. I have a good camera, it helps... I looked through all my photos from the holiday and 90% was of Mac... Is it just me or does all whippet owners do the same? Anyway, I always enjoy the photos here on k9 and I always use this site to show people who don't know the breed :- )

So this is a thank you to all the k9 photographers out here!

We've just been to Seville and paid 1p each way! Unfortunately Ryannair doesn't let whippets on board... even though they'd be far less trouble than the crowd you normally encounter on their planes! ;)
