Colt @ Vets...

ian and i travelled down the south of ireland this morning to meet up with the vet. straight away gerry scullion spotted not only has he done one gracilis but 2 !

heres the punchline..the right one was done last year and went undetected..clean break but has healed over as they do with the muscle unattached at the lower end. weve pin-pointed that to Belvoir Castle at the Lurcherworld Finals in october.

the left one has torn but with 4-6 weeks will heal to a certain extent.

gerry was amazed at how Colt has ran all winter and at Westhoughton back in december and last week with that one completely detached !

he has recommended 4-6 weeks off with walks , massage and ultrasound as therapy....then it should be business as usual !

so Selby at easter is very doubtful but the first race here in april all be it 92yds should be on !!

cant believe hes run all that time with his gracillis done in (w00t) wow!good luck with the recovery John,hope hes ok at the end of it. :luck: :luck: :luck: thats dog is tough! :thumbsup:
 
I thought this the other day on this pic and found it odd his new bruising was on the other leg. If you look, you can see his right is clearly "dropped", it's not uncommon for both to drop either and i presume (don't claim to be an expert) it has something to do with the other leg overcompensating. We've only had the 2 dogs with dropped muscles, and both bitches dropped both eventually.

Fingers crossed for Colt anyway, i'm sure even if it came down to him losing a few yards, it wouldn't make any difference to him :lol: :lol: Look forward to seeing you both soon :thumbsup:
 
Think your right Vicky, Tony was just saying one tends to follow another in his experiences too. Lots of pampering for Colt now and I'm sure he'll be back on the lurcher circuit. :thumbsup:
 
It's amazing how tough dogs are isn't it? And how they will carry on doing something they love even when they are injured. Last year at Tatton when Hebe sliced her foot open she didn't even realise she'd done it & would have kept on running, the adrenaline was flowing (w00t)

I'm glad you've got Colts problem diagnosed & hope he heals well :luck:

Great new's ,in a way John.But how serious is the tear.Did it tear top,bottom,or middle.He will obviously lose another few length's now,which might give the rest of us a chance.Hey,only joking.Good to hear he's got a bit left in him mate. Talk soon John. PS. Did you get the adress John.

There's even a theory that if the one is done, you let em run and do the other one (intentionally -- not as in Colt's case). It must keep 'em even ?!Louanne

:eek: I'm just catching up on this now. 2 injuries!?! What a brave and tough dog :huggles: Good luck and I hope he's back to full fitness soon :luck:
