read below first as there are pix in this link that youll never forget.

at first glance this seemed to be interesting. i thought it was fantastic that tussauds have done a "WESTMEAD HAWK" to join their other celebs....then as i got further down ive turned into a raving nutcase really furious at such cruelty.

sorry John i cant look it upsets me too much. :( im a softy at heart and pics of animal cruelty give me nightmares and depress me for ages
 
I looked but I didn't click on any further links for the stories and video clips :(

It seems that the greyhound racing world is the same as the thoroughbred racing world - too many bred with a very small percentage actually making it to the track, and then only to live a short (maybe illustrious) career before they risk becoming redundant, unloved and unwanted :rant: :rant: :rant:

I know that some greys have lifelong loving homes after their racing careers are over but I now wonder if they are in the minority? :unsure: :angry:

I have just watched it,it made me cry.I just think that dogs like Lady,who are so gentle and loving are being treated this way.Its immoral and inhumane.Thank god i know where Lady came from,and that Martin treats the dogs in his care,so well.

I will always have a Greyhound in my doggie family,the rewards are endless!!

I've seen this website before, along with many others and I find them so disturbing. I could never go greyhound racing or bet on the dogs after what I have learnt about the industry (not that I did before but I used to want to go to see the dogs). I know that not all the dogs are mistreated in this way and the majority are rehomed but even one dog abused is one too many, and with greyhounds there appears to be thousands :(

I try to give money or buy things where money goes towards the rehoming of greyhounds. If you can't get a greyhound why not sponsor one for yourself or a gift for a friend. I have 2 sponsored greyhounds which I plan to go and visit this summer :D most rescues will have dogs available to sponsor.
 
We helped at Tia greyhound rescue for a few years and we got our greys from them. They do take dogs from trainers who care about where their dogs go after retiring but the majority they get are strays who have been dumped. :angry: They have saved dogs from being put to sleep at the side of the track before now - the owner didnt want it cos it wouldnt chase (someone heard the owner ask the vet to put her to sleep but he couldnt because his freezer was already full!!!!! ) :rant: :rant: the person at the ringside stepped in and took the dog off the owner and took her to Tias and they found her a great home :thumbsup:
