Talking about balls :- " ............ could you advise me on the subject of "no balls" (w00t) please? :unsure:

Irie, my only boy, will be 6 months at the end of May. I was considering showing him but neither of the poor little chaps balls have appeared yet :(

My vet has suggested I wait another couple of months in case they make an appearance but, otherwise, he will have to have surgery to remove them from his abdomen :(

Would his lack of balls go against him in puppy classes? I can get a medical certificate for him if necessary, or should I forget about showing him?

The breed standard says males should have two apparently normal testicles fully descended into the scrotum.
 
Sorry to be brutally honest, if any of my pups would not have both down by 6 weeks I would not even consider him for show. Here is my blue boy at 3 weeks;

Sorry , Jane, but I would forget about showing him :( Was he bought for showing?

I dont let any of mine without 2 really nice little plums :b at 6/7 weeks go to show homes .If they arent down by then 99% chance they wont come down .

That's a shame, but they have to have two fully descended testicles for the show ring, even with a certificate it won't really make any difference, he won't get placed.

I don't know where you got him from, but you should let his breeder know as it may be hereditary.

Sorry, but that being honest, wait until he is at least 18 months old before having him castrated, don't let your vet persuade you to have it done early. At 18 months he will be fairly mature, any earlier you will have a dog that just doesn't grow up.

If I had sold him to you in good faith, I would give you back what you paid for him, or take him back and re-home him.

......... I didn't get him for showing, just as a pet, so no problem with the balls :)

Now, back to those feet ........................
 
Right, all my dogs hate me now as 'the management' said before taking photo's I had to get the Dremmel out!!

It's not at all a silly question.

Yes I would consider them correct. The first and last picture is of the same dog, whose feet is tightest.
 
Thats good, my older whippet has feet like the first one, my puppy has slightly different feet like the one in the third pic - so i just wandered which was correct or if they were both acceptable.

The 2nd & 3rd pics are back and front feet of the same dog. The back feet usually are slightly different than the front anyway.

my aunts dachs was 10 months before they eventually came down. so anythings possible. boys will be boys
