As this issue is currently being discussed amongst racers at the moment I thought that a poll might be a good idea.

Personally I like Morton as a venue. I would like to see the track improved though.

Deffo number 2, WE LOVE MIM

yes i love morton....good toilets with loo roll :- " :b

defo number 2 from the peppermint camp

Morton is central easy to get to from motor way, good field and yes the toilets are better than most why change!!!

:D :D Can i vote to move the venue to Scotland .........................ANYWHERE in Scotland lol

 Only kidding Moreton on Marsh is a lovely place we enjoy going there.........xx

I think Mortons an excelant venue, but for the life of me I never understood why the straight track was moved from running with the traps near the Rd up the field.

Most seemed happy with the track their although when very dry I think a few complained about the grass being to short on the cricket outfield.

the last thing we need IMO is the Champs moving from their present location as it's central to the country, can you imagine the extra 2-2 1/2 hours it could add to the Scottish racers traveling time (+ expense) if it moved South?

I also agree it should be left at Morton, but with improvements to the track, its a great venue and with there being no racing club running there no dogs have a home advantage.

Yes definitely No 2 for us too - and it seems that is the view of the majority so far. Moreton is a beautiful setting for racing. I went to many a talk-in banging on about making the Champs central for everyone, and I believe now that it is.

I have a proposition for the WCRA - I know none of them post on here, but they do come for a look :- " Steve and I would be more than willing, as would many others I'm sure - to go over to Moreton to help with track improvements. Maybe lifting the turf back, and filling the dip? It's not an easy job because we have done it before at another track, but certainly something needs to be done. Probably the easiest option would be to level out the dip, and then re-seed it, a job I'm sure is not beyond the groundsman if he was talked to nicely :p I do think the track should be moved for the next Champs though if possible

What is it with the loo roll and your no 2's (w00t) :- " :b

On a more serious note, A very good suggestion June,if we were able to set a track somewhere else for the next meeting ,then prehaps the people camping could all set to work to sort the track  . Many hands make light work

you know mum alot to be said for a good loo :- " (w00t)

can i just say....looking at the poll...what weird person thinks the track should stay where it is and how it is?????  we are talking about the safety of our dogs here

no 2 for us as well, the setting and the location is ok and yes the loos are the best (w00t) thats if you can get the key of gary early sunday morning before the tartan army invastion (w00t) (w00t) mind you you can move it to the northern if you like (w00t)

I voted for 2 .....but everyone's entitled to their own opinions ...... Surely if people just approached Paul, Gary and co and told them their opinions they'd listen and do something about it ...... We couldn't have thought the ground was that unsafe as we wouldn't put our dogs (knowingly) at a higher risk of injury, would we ?? .....I can't remember hearing that anyone had pulled their dogs out because of the ground .....

I do think though that the track should be made flatter ...... I know Paul moved the track to where it is now because the grass was always cut too short by the groundsman and the track got much too hard in the summer ..... Julia and myself pulled dogs out because of this problem a few years ago (thats when we had a proper summer  ) .....I guess you can't please everyone :)

for the safety of the dogs it has to be 2 has but will never forget solo running up there  but use to love it where it was before

That might be a good idea - to run where we used to this time, until the dip can be sorted.

I'm sure the groundsman would be quite happy to sort it, as the racers make the Cricket Club a decent profit on the bar on the weekend, and WCRA must be paying rent. If he's not happy to do anything, he might change his mind if they offer a financial incentive :- " The WCRA are quite well off at the moment, and money spent in the interest of dogs safety has got to be a good thing

Where was it held prior to Moreton?
i think they mean at morton where the track used to be set up

but i know before that it used to travel around to different clubs

i feel mim is the best place as it is in the middle for most  and it is also no-ones home ground

I think the home track can be an advantage, especially on a bend. I think knowing the traps can help too.

Jade wins because she is very fast Jane - she doesn't need an advantage. :D
