Been for the first time to give blood today :)

It's so easy and quick :thumbsup: .

Next step is to fill in the form and become a Bone Marrow Donor :D .

I'm in a giving mood :eek: .

Pint anyone ?? (w00t) ??

So who else is a Donor then ?

ive given 32 donations in the past but unfortunatley i carnt give anymore because i usually become anemic after every donation :( .

Got my badge for 10 pints, but haven't always been able to give since then - but I do when I can :thumbsup: It does make you feel good. I gave blood this morning - but that was only a syringe full at the doctors :lol:

I've been giving blood since I was 21 (so for quite a few years then :- " ) & got my Gold award for 50 donations a few months ago.

I kept on nagging OH Neil about going too so now he gives as well :D

Luckily I've never needed any of it back :luck:
 
I've given several pints and received 9 units, thanks everybody.....but now they won't accept my blood for donation as I received blood before a certain date and they weren't testing for CJD then so I may be at slight risk of having MADCOW DISEASE in the future.............well that's something to look forward to isn't it (w00t) (w00t)

Well done Fleesh :D Linda's Dad was a blood donor & he got his bronze badge. He had to stop through ill health, & in his last couple of years he received 2 -3 pints of blood a month! Keep it up!
 
Well done to you all,i have weekly plasma infusions so i know how important you people are, so keep up the good work :thumbsup:
 
I signed up about a year ago but the only day they visit my town is a Monday which is a work day so haven't been able to go.... :blink:
 
I work in haematology, so many patients receiving blood products on a daily basis! Thanks to all you who donate, they are kept alive and well :thumbsup:

I will donate as soon as I can but at the moment I have terrible veins, they collapse just with a blood test lat alone a pint!!

I was quite pleased with them actually finding my veins, last time I was in hospital and having a blood test they took my shoes off to see if they could find a vein in my ankle after they struggled to find one in my arm or the back of my leg, eventually they got one in my hand.

This time the professionals found one in my arm after a few minutes, although they couldn't see it as it was so deep they had so much experience that just being able to feel it meant they could hit it straight away. :thumbsup:
 
My daughter wouldnt be here now but for you kind people giving blood. :cheers:

Shes been suffering from cancer for the last few years , she died twice and had to be brought back :eek:

lost count of the amount of blood shes had and also a stem cell transplant.

At the moment she is fine , so , lots of thanks to everybody :huggles:

Oh my goodness :eek: Those stem cell transplants can be really tough.

:eek: :eek: Sounds like your veins are worse than mine!!

Right then, will have to try give some blood next time they come to my area, if they can get a pint from you they must be able to get one from me :lol:

I suppose they will be experts really as they are constantly doing it... we call them and the phlebotomists who spend all day taking blood, VAMPIRES!! :lol:
