It is with much sadness and still with tears that I post that Steve and Sue lost their young girl, Storm, on Monday in very tragic circumstances.

Following winning Best Gait at the Specialty, Storm was admitted to a vet on Sunday morning. On Monday, Sue had to go to the Royal for a judging appointment and those near her would have been aware of the phone call advising Storm had bone missing when being collected from the vet. A missing dog with a severe illness had everyone on the lookout. It's a long story and everyone involved is beating themselves up with 'if only' and 'we should have', but the fact remains she's gone.

Storm was a daughter of our Charm and Jen & Molly's Darcy. She was 3 points short of her title and and although young, had had an admirable show career but above all, she was a sweet and loving whippet and had spent much of Saturday night in my husbands arms.

Steve and Sue initially asked us not to tell people, but concerned friends have been ringing and there were enquiries whilst we were at the Royal for RR judging yesterday.

Steve and Sue were devastated by the loss and like all who experience such a tragic loss, have said that's it, never again. Through my tears I have urged them to breed again and in some weird sign, Storm's dam, Charm, came into season early than expected on Tuesday.

The tears will be flowing for some time.

Oh my God...

I'm sat here at my desk at work crying :'(

My sympathy to all connections on the loss of Storm... a wonderful little happy girl at ringside who's career was plentiful at such a young age and really was only just beginning.

I'm in shock that she's gone ... treasure the time that you spent with her as I am sure she will have left with you all lovely memories.

Condolences to Sue and Steve

What a tragic loss. Deepest sympathy to Steve and Sue :(

Sharing the tears with you, that is devastating :'(

Words are so hard to find at these times, I am sure Charm has sensed the loss of her baby, mother nature is truely amazing.

Condolences to Sue & Steve - life throws some very odd curve balls at times :(

Rest In Peace Storm

Very sorry to hear about the sad loss of your young girl. I'm sure we'll all hug ours bit tighter tonight

Treasure the memories and the happiness Storm gave you both Sue & Steve

We never know how long we have them and the sadness that she leaves you with right now will soon fade

Sending condolences to Storm's family. :huggles: It is never easy losing our loved family members but when it happens out of the blue it is so much more difficult to comprehend.

R.I.P. Storm taken too soon

This sounds an awful thing to have happened - so sorry to all concerned

RIP Storm.

This is such terrible news, Toni - I'm so sad for you & Steve & Sue. I was sitting ringside last Saturday watching her being judged & I remarked to the person sitting next to me what a lovely girl she was & don't we all wish we had one just like her?

I've just gone over to my pile of dogs on the sofa & told them how much I love them. It's never easy to lose one but when it happens unexpectedly, out of the blue, it can be almost too much to bear. When you next speak to Sue & Steve, please pass on sincere condolences from us all.

Gail.

Oh God - I could not believe my eyes when I saw the subject line - and I don't want to believe it. She was beautiful.

She was my Dino and Aime's half sister and I followed that litter with much interest when they were born, having a number of email chats and pics from Steve and Sue, have continued to follow Storm's success and was delighted to see her in the flesh on Saturday, even though I didn't get the chance to go and introduce myself in person to Steve and Sue.

Please pass on my sympathy to them Toni and I will email them when things aren't so raw. They must be so distraught.
