I'm sure most of you have seen the Bobby Charlton advert on TV where he has the whippet and flat clap whilst watching the local football match....

Quality it is, I wonder who owns the dog...?

I might I have said before but my wife's Nana used to live in house that shared an alley with Charltons, and she says they did nothing play but play football in that alley in Ashington...RIP

Paul

I posted this on the Whippet forum and somebody found out! They got on touch with Danone.

read bobbys biography this year he says they had whippets around the house when he was at home as a youngster. also his brother who is a fireman keeps whippets, bobby says in his book he was a useful footballer as well but would sooner watch his whippets run. :) so whippets are definatly bobs fav breed of dog i should think.

Nice comments...I hate to admit but I love the North East, Ashington, Bedlington, Blyth etc. It's even nicer at Seahouses, Bamburgh, Alnwick (where my wife was born) and Morpeth (where I tried to get transferred to).

Michelle's Nana was also friends with Sissy the mother of the Charlton's. Her Uncle still lives on Woodhorn Road which is close to the old colliery, which sells carved whippets from coal. I've got a couple, they're lovely. they'd make good trophies...

Paul

we should get wor bobby to do the presentation for the champs, just an idea :))

i thought it was jack , great add though

you might want to try and get him to play for yous on saturday might have a better chance of scoring against us come on the reds

It's that advert that gave me the whippet bug again.

So you can blame bobby charlton. :teehee: :- "

I'd have Bobby at Spurs now! Even though he's 70+, gotta be faster than some our midfielders, he can bring his whippet too, need some speed up front too... :b

Don't care who wins the Tyne/Tees derby, just hope it's those from........??????

I used to know Bobbys brother Tom lived at Maltby still had a whippet then , he worked in the Mines Rescue Station. We were on a weekend in Wales when Bobby dropped Toms young son off on his way to catch a flight to the Saoul olympics.

Steve's sister/husband live in Ashington-

Their family knew/lived near the Charlton's too-

Small world....

My grandad thought he was a great footballer, never shut up about him.

He was a great footballer, in fact he was a fabulous footballer, maybe his wispy hair :- " stopped him being recognised as a great player, he certainly was....

Paul

he's a still a Manc **** though! Only joking!
