Gloucester WRC Results 23/11/08

Today we raced for the club’s two most prestigious trophies; The Aerocraft Trophy was contested by the heavyweight group and the Taimo Tankard by the lightweights. The track was in a fair condition despite the rain we had overnight and happily we were able to use the moped for relaying the lure this week. The most exciting event of the day was when the club hosted a new a race for a new award, The Magical Mistery Back to Front Trophy. There are a number of slower dogs who attend the club on a regular basis and this trophy was sponsored by Jo and Lloyd Masson to give an opportunity to the “less fast” whippets to win an accolade. There was no shortage of acceptances to participate in the race and the results were as follows:

1st (4th Place) YAGAN'S DREAM (Well done to Dennis and Pearl who have agreed to sponsor the race next year)

2nd (3rd Place) Blythe Spirit (Lou and Simon were gutted as Daisy decided to run the race of her life and there was a little space on the mantelpiece awaiting the trophy)

3rd (2nd Place) Duncton Nemesis (Well done Chyppe, no puppy allowance ran brilliantly)

4th (1st Place) Magical Mistery (He couldn’t win his own trophy so a generous handicap allowed him to reach the lure first which was a new experience!)

Lightweight Group

Heats Conway Gem, Devils Double, Sonny Jim

Main Final

1st CONWAY GEM (Well done Amber, Dave and Lynne)

2nd Milan’s dream

3rd Magical Mayhem

4th Devil’s Double

3rd Xile

4th One Mo Time (WD)

3rd Bowan’s Dream

We had a really fun day today, well until Daisy spoiled it all  (w00t)

Well done Yagan

Brilliant day today - well done to Cheap Thrills who once again took the heavyweight final, and winning the Aerocraft Trophy - and what a return Conway Gem has made - she ran out of her skin today to win the Taimo Tankard. Nice for Dave & Lyn to keep it for another year as WCRCh Conway Celt won it last year

Great racing all round, but what a pleasure the Back to Front trophy was. The shouting and cheering was brilliant, as everyone wanted their dog to come last to win. Beautiful trophy well earned by Yagan's Dream - showing that every dog has his day

Sorry for Daisy missing out - she has been brilliant this year in bringing all the puppies on - which must make her Puppy Trainer of the Year

Of course we retired to the pub Julie - goes without saying these days  Great to get together with such lovely people - thanks all :huggles:

He is that Lou - Daisy has been invaluable to the puppies this year - she can sit back for the winter and feel very proud of herself :huggles: Bet there's a few hoping she will do it again next year

Thank you for a nice days racing and for Dave lending us a dog to go with Callie,Had a good weekend :)

It was a hoot. Yagan was superb in his win as was Moz and Amber. Trophies to be collected next week. It was good to see Viv again for the first time in ages, and Lee travelled so far to join us.

Thanks to Lou and Simon for Daisy, June and Steve for Smidge and Nibs, and Darcia/Rob for Chyppe. Axel enjoyed his trials. I have considered changing his name though since I found out that 'Axel Rose' is an anagram. For those who love Countdown, it shouldn't take you long to work out!! Still, I always planned to race him as Xplicit How appropriate!

 Oops!

Obviously you mean "So Relax" :- "
