Well we are just getting out of the fat (with some of the Electra kids leaving home) when we jumped back into the fire.

Pleased to announce that Vesna (Ch Ridgesetter Maid In USA (IID)) has seven beautiful babies to Nugget (Ch Isilwane Jolly Roger), unfortunately they were born via c-section, not something I'm used to in Whippets, but all seven (4 girls/3 boys) made it - there were a couple I thought might not, but the "101 Dalmation" rubbing got them going. One boy had a short tail with kinks so we made the decision to dock it (and yes I have a letter stating it was for medical reasons) then and there. So Bob (the Bobtail) is belting around with his siblings not aware of being any different - yet.

I figured the best way to show the pedigree of the pups was the same way Tony from StripPoker did so here is a link to the test mating on The Whippet Archive - hope it works. http://thewhippetarchives.net/testmating.p...0634&gens=6

Nugget is a GORGEOUS whippet, One of my favs here in oz. You should get some nice pups from these 2 Lisa.

Congratulations, they look a beautiful litter

Oh MORE prettily marked babies to ooh and aah over :p

You must be a sucker for punishment Lisa - with whippet litters one after the other!!!

Anyways they look like wee sweeties.

aww they 're gorgeous !

shame about Bob's tail, what happens if they have a kinky tail ? does it hurt them or cause problems later on ?

Wow, what a nice pedigree!

Have to tell that I love Electra's kids worldwide (especially Shamasan Innocent Bystander SC, living with Lorie Crain in the USA), and it's nice to see that this litter has a very nice family line based on her, with a lovely pedigree full of great dogs. Wizard of Oz is a littermate to Waroth, who's type and blood is very dominant in my polish bitch Kapor. World is so small!

Anyway, the best luck with them! :) A lovely litter!

They look a beautiful litter, wishing you lots of luck with them.

Thanks everyone, they are cuties and yes I am a glutton for punishment. If someone can come up with a way to make the girls come in when I want them to I'd be most grateful :teehee: Nugget has been in to see his newest children, but was more interested in why Vesna had food and couldn't he please eat it  Just an interesting sideline - Nugget only mated Electra and Vesna once each - for 9 & 7 pups, and in Vesna's case while Vesna was flagging as early as the Thursday prior, and the other boys would have facilitated her urges for sure, Nugget just flat out refused every day he was let out with her, until Tuesday morning (even I was beginning to wonder), when he walked out, mated her and went back to bed :- :-

Re Bob's tail, it went about 4 bones, with the last one actually getting bigger, then a small whip of a tail with a kink. It was kinked and short and I think it would have caused him problems in the long run so better to deal with it at the time when it caused the least issues - if you've ever tried to heal a split tail in an older dog you'd understand me not wanting him to have something done later. I think he'll do fine, it certainly hasn't stopped him belting around the whelping box, drinking lustily and complaining loudly when I pick him up (not in pain, just grumpy).

I have to say that in the past I might not have dealt with it the same way - I will be open enough having bred Ridgebacks for 25 years to say that we might have culled him (please don't bother flaming me about this - nothing you can say hasn't been said to Ridgeback breeders in the past or even in the present). But when you do a c-section and you're striving to get all the pups out and revive them you're not looking at things like this until later when you have spent time reviving them and it changes your outlook a little.

Anyway on a lighter note after worrying about Vesna perhaps not cleaning up "everything" from her babies, because of the way she took time to get into cleaning at all, I am pleased to say that I needn't have worried. She is now a vigorous and judicious cleaner of her babies. The Kennel Maid (husband) had suggested that we might need to enlist Electra's help in looking after the babies if Vesna didn't come to the party - hmmmm you should have seen the look on Electra's face when she heard  :x (despite still standing on occasion to let her own kids suckle even with no more milk and still rolling them over and cleaning them!!).

Wow isn't Harley gorgeous - send me a PM and let me know where he comes from.

You can go to http://www.dogzonline.com.au/breeds/member.asp?name=ISILWANE to see our Ridgebacks - our current crop of youngsters are sired by two UK dogs.

And thanks Annamaria for your kind words about Electra's kids, Jane Doe (Shamasan Innocent Bystander SC) is indeed a lovely Electra daughter and we (Lorie, Sam, Phoebe & I) have high hopes of her gaining her elusive second major this year to gain her CH.

Kapor could come and live in our yard and definitely not look out of place :))
