A couple of my affies of yesteryear - the bitch in the black and white photo was raised with greyhounds, came out of traps, ran 3 bend races well and was a keen rabbit dog.A super star to me she was the proud dam of the dog also pictured... another who went out for the "bunnies" Of course it didn't do much for their coats but they had lots of fun!!!

Beautiful dogs, I love Afghans, so graceful, elegant and Crazy!!!

They are beautiful looking creatures

Here's my sweetheart Zak who I had growing up in the eighties. My mum and dad gave him a forever home and I'd love to know his pedigree/ breeding but we never had any papers for him. A woman in Brighouse/ Huddersfield took him and his brother on as adults without really looking into it and as a result needed to rehome them quite soon after she got them. I know Zak's original name was Czar/ Zar and his brother was Zak. The lady split them up and the original Zak got a home first and we got Czar. We thought his name wasn't a strong enough sound, so as he'd been used to hearing 'Zak' we called him that instead. Don't know why they didn't go back to the breeder when they needed rehoming. The lady who had them lived next door to my aunt which was how we heard about them.

If anyone knows anything about afghans from the eighties and has any info at all about Zak and Czar I'd love to hear it! He was about two when we got him, probably around 1982/83. Oh and obviously no-one told him he was a sighthound - he used to love to play with our bunnies!
