Took the dog to the vets this morning, seems to be in good health, about 3 yrs old apparently.

Brindle bitch, initial guess by vets is shes not spayed.

13.5kgs

found with no collar, no tags, no tatoos.

Scanned for ID chip and none found.

We have taken her home vs leaving her at the vets in a kennel where shes made friends with our other 4 dogs and 2 cats!

Very friendly.. likes eating carpets and wires and curling up on couches and waking us up at 6am to tell me of another piddle!

If anyone knows who she belongs to please contact me, We are happy to have her with us but she seems a very loving dog so rather convinced someone out there is missing her.

she seems in a very good condition, so am sure someone is out there looking, fingers crossed for a reunion :luck:

I've been thinking about this... I've been warned about getting another dog, I have a thought of getting a pup, bringing him home and saying I just happened to find the poor thing right next to the crossroads o:)

We have contacted the local dog warden and the vet said her details will be passed around to all the local surgeries.

If i get time tomorrow i will go back to the area she was found in and knock on a few doors .. although i am surprised no one has come looking for her yet.

If any of ours went missing we would be straight on to the vets and warden.

She has had a funny affect on our other 2 though..

Shes small and sits on our lap and now our 2 dobermans also think they are lap dogs!

She looks lovely and in good condition so I hope her owners come forward soon

fingers crossed her family find her :luck: .....having said that she seems very at home with you

Awwwwwwww hope she finds her owners soon :luck: Perhaps Millie on her might know,i think she lives in that area, might be worth a try.

Just bumping this to the top.

Still have her. Awaiting the Warden to come visit to give us the all clear to keep hold of her till her owner comes forward. I dont think she would do well in a kennel environment considering how good she is at home.

Edit:

also.. ok.. so if she is going to be with us for a bit longer.. is there anything about whippets that i need to know to give her the best care possible.

How lovely that you can keep her with you whilst her owner is being traced :)

She does look a lovely little girl and, as you say, in very good condition!!

It would probably be best to start a new topic to ask for tips and advice as alot of people may not come back onto this topic once they have seen it.

Also, there are alot of good hints in the FAQ section about feeding, travelling, excercise and health etc

Whippets are different to other dogs ....... far more sensitive and very, very loving but cheeky with it!!!!

Here are some pointers ......

Best of luck with your new lodger :D :luck:

Good luck and well done to you for taking this lovely little dog into your care. If the owners cannot be found then maybe you will adopt her on a permanent basis. She seems very contended with you all :D You are obviously very nice people :))

Good for you for taking her in. I had to laugh at your photo of your doberman on your lap  Whippets love warm places as they are quite thin skinned/coated and a warm lap or big cushion next to a radiator, or under the quilt on a bed are their favourite places.

Would it be worth placing a 'found' ad (without too detailed a description) in your local paper, just in case someone is looking for her? How careless of her previous owners not to have put a tag on her collar. It does make you wonder if they are really looking for her doesn't it?

She's lovely (so is your lap dog doberman  ) One thing to bear in mind while you have her is that she will need a coat on when she's out for a walk as whippets don't have the same kind of waterproof /weatherproof coats that most other dogs do so she will feel the cold more than your dobes. Good luck finding her owners although I bet there will be a bit of you that's sad to see her go if you do find them :luck:

Oh a massive part will be sad to see her go.

My Father died of a sudden heart attack on tuesday and she hasn't left my side. Like a shadow you can trip up over.

nae worries about my dad. my sister is only 18 and she is struggling with it all. Finalised all the funeral arrangements today. My dad loved dogs and he would have loved to meet her. :(

took her to my old work today (i used to be a nanny) and she was fantastic with the kids!

And yus.. my other half already referrers to her as *my* dog (especially when she chews on stuff she shouldn't!)
