The Whippet Archives have been taken off. That is such a pity. All that amazing info lost to us all. Can anyone think of something that could bring it back? :( :( :(

how sad its a shame she felt the need to do that i loved looking up things on there :(

Perhaps all the people that emailed, protested and felt that they had to lay blame on the site for the problems should take a look at themselves, a bad photo or a couple of wrong names in a pedigree, big deal now its gone well done to all that moaned about it.

I had dogs with bad photos and wrong names but I just fixed them, sure its a pain but it did not cost money to have your dogs on there. A good site gone.

TWA thanks so much

The concept of TWA is great. But thanks to people like George & his supporters who went around changing information that was not their own, it's gone. Maybe a new one should start up, "The George Archives".

In a way George might of done us all a favor. There was a loop hole in TWA set up. Anyone could change what they liked. Now it's gone. Any wonder???

Yes, I did moan when threads were put up about TWA, although not over copyright, more that other people had firstly put on my dogs details incorrectly and then when I updated them, people had altered my dog's details . I have always said it is a fantastic tool but that it's open to abuse because it just needs an audit trail or an 'edited by' function.

I think it's all well and good getting the hump with people that complained and sent in emails (I didn't, and I don't know who has) but to be honest I know how it felt to find mine on there and incorrect, so can understand how people felt when a really awful picture of their dog was uploaded without their permission, or when their dog's height was changed to something ridiculous etc. How many people have viewed the incorrect info before you notice it....it's a worry for some people.

If only Karin could get it so that it showed who edited things then I'm sure it would put unscrupuloous people off.

It will be a big loss to a lot of people, and it really is a shame that it has been taken 'off air' as like everyone (including myself) has always said it was a valuable source of information for thousnds of people.

Maybe the frustrations/anger should be focused onto the anonymous editors that caused many people to have to check their dog's information weekly.

nice one, now all is well the worries are gone.

i've had loads of fun on that site, exploring Eskil's pedigree, can't see how it can be done now, bit sceptical about the KC providing a pedigree going back a 100 years if asked.

maybe people sho ask themselves why someone out there felt the need to alter their dogs details, take it as a compliment? no one has bothered to change mine.

What a complete and utter waste of so much valuble information

Yet again it seems a few people spoil the party .... you get something for nothing and still MOAN about it !!!! SHAME ON YOU !!!

Having read the posts of some people , spouting off on every forum available , about a wrong date or name ..... surely it would have been quicker to just log on and change it ?

From what I can make out , it has been a few of the British whippet Fancy that have led to this loss .... Pleased to say I can no longer be tarred with the same brush ................

Please , Please bring the site back. Don't let the few ruin it for the Many ..........

i certainly dont take it as a compliment i spent ages putting my dogs on for someone to give unsuspecting new people to the breed the wrong information its such a shame certain individuals spoil it for the majority :( lets just hope at some point karin will put it back on

Have to say Libby I agree with you 100%

It is so easy for a few to ruin things and i feel so sorry for Karin, all those years of work

How can we get TWA back, we have nothing else like it

Nothing is perfect as we all know and it takes just a few mins to change details and put them right

ANY IDEAS ANYONE

What a shame - it was so useful, even if the info wasn't always 100 % accurate - it gave us access to a data base that very few of us would ever be able to build up ourselves.

Never said I was a Kiwi ..... can't say 'Fush n Chups' or 'Chikin Disk' Properly yet ............ :- :-

I am totally bemused by this :(

What on earth does anyone gain by altering details? It is just small minded and pathetic.

My whippets are pets. I don't show them and I don't race or course competitively with them.

I just love them dearly and we have great fun together.

Because I am so proud of them, I put them on TWA. I thought the opportunity to be able to look back through their heritage and see where they were related to other whippets I know was very special indeed. I had hours of enjoyment looking at the different pedigrees and there was always that chance that I would find out who owned the litter mates of my whippets if they came across TWA and put their dogs on it too.

And now it's gone from public view :'( :'( :'(

Please, please, please can someone help to bring it back??

Is a "chikin disk" the thing that falls out the back end of a chikin? 8)

We had a Kiwi here that went into a shop every Friday, & asked for "fush & chups". Each week the person behind the counter would say "Hey that Kiwi is back". So the Kiwi thought it was the way he said "fush & chups".

So for a month studied real Austrailian. Went back & said "fish & chips" . The counter person said "Hey the Kiwi is back".

So the Kiwi asked how they knew,& he was told "This is a hardware store".

This is such a shame, I loved looking on TWA to find out about Molly's relatives, it was really good to see pics and both DOB and DOD, it gave me a real insight into where she came from and being a newbie to pedigree whippets I found it wonderful. Is there anything we can do? there is so much info on there it can't just go to waste :( :( :(

typical moaning and bitching, a site like TWA depends on input ok some maybe wrong etc, but it might of been more constructive to edit what you beleived to be wrong info or a bad picture instead of rushing to publicly winge on the usual forums

fair enough, i don't think it's appropriate to put down someone else's address, and if details were incorrect, some might be due to catalouges having spelling mistakes, if they were corrected i doubt someone would keep going back to change them again. if you show/have showed your dogs then why can't their details be put online if they are in catalouges already?! for example Eskil doesn't come from a registered kennel, so without having a prefix there is no way of knowing what is behind his name.

Moaning do gooders strike again - a sad loss of a great site, what a shame..
